The purpose of this study is to clarify what ICT—based childcare records bring to early childhood edu- cation and care(ECEC)teachers through a case study. We interviewed two ECEC teachers at X childcare center. As a result, we found that the ICT—based childcare records brought the following benefits to the ECEC teachers:"Advantages of using a tablet", Disadvantages of using a tablet", Looking back from a different perspective by using the response items", Difficulty in thinking according to the response items", Awareness by visualizing the number of times each child was recorded", Utilization for other records", and"Improvement in daily situations".
Among them, the characteristics of ICT—based childcare records were"advantages of using tablets",
"disadvantages of using tablets", utilization in other records", and"awareness through visualization of the number of records for each child". In addition, when we examined the purpose of introducing ICT— based childcare records at X childcare center from the three perspectives of(1)improving work effi- ciency to reduce overtime(, 2)deepening understanding of children, and(3)reflecting on childcare support, we found that although it did not contribute to(1), it did contribute to(2)and(3). Although ICT—based childcare records have been discussed from the perspective of increasing efficiency and reducing workload, it is important to consider how they can contribute to the reflection of ECEC, which is the original purpose of childcare records.

This keynote speech focuses on education and aims to review the trajectory of cultural-historical activity theory (CHAT) research in Japan, highlighting its recent development toward the implementation of formative interventions.
Since the 1990s, CHAT has been introduced into Japanese educational research as a theoretical framework for the reconstruction of the relationship between education (teaching–learning) and development. It has made significant theoretical and empirical contributions to diverse domains, including learning theory, developmental studies, lesson study, and teacher education. In particular, the works of Prof. Katsuhiro Yamazumi — as well as the institutional development of the Japanese Association for Research on Activity Theory (JARAT) and its journal Activity Theory Research (Vols. 1–10, 2016–2025) — represent a central corpus for understanding the evolution of activity theory research in Japan.
Drawing on these materials, this keynote presents a comprehensive literature review that analyzes (1) the theoretical lineage of Japanese activity theory research, (2) its practical reach in fields such as education, welfare, and community development, and (3) the methodological transformations involving formative intervention, expansive learning, and the Change Laboratory. Through this analysis, the presentation elucidates both the distinctive features and current challenges of Japanese CHAT research.
However, the methodological development of interventions that generate expansive learning, while theoretically rich, has remained limited in terms of practical implementation. In recent years, since 2019, a series of Change Laboratory projects launched across Japan have attracted attention as attempts to bridge this theoretical–practical gap.
Finally, the keynote introduces two formative intervention cases conducted by the author: (1) an online collaborative transformation project among three early childhood institutions from different regions and organizations, and (2) a lesson redesign project in a Grade 2 classroom at a university-affiliated elementary school. These cases explore the possibilities of implementing formative interventions in educational practice and illuminate the dual trajectory of theoretical advancement and methodological implementation as key dimensions of the new development of activity theory research in Japan.

This dialogue seminar explored the ethical question of how educators, researchers, and practitioners can support another person's transformation without deciding in advance who that person should become. Drawing on the educational thought of Arata Osada and Einosuke Ashida, autobiographical materials concerning writing education, and formative intervention research using the Change Laboratory, the talk examined the ambivalence of education between expression and control, liberation and intervention. The presentation concluded by opening the question to dialogue with Japanese staff and members of the peace education section at Friedensdorf International.

修養論としての『綴方十二ヶ月』
―芦田恵之助の子ども観に着目して―

１．芦田恵之助の『綴方十二ヶ月』と二次言説
本発表では、芦田恵之助の『綴方十二ヶ月』(1917-1919) (以下『十二ヶ月』) を採り上げ、主としてその二次言説の検討を対象に、つくられてきた「芦田」像の相対化を試みる。『十二ヶ月』は、「幻の児童図書」と呼ばれ、1971年の復刊の際には総勢23名の研究者・教師らによって「綴方十二ヶ月の意義と価値」 (以下『意義と価値』) と題された書評が付された。多様な執筆陣からは、国語科教育に止まらない芦田への関心の高さがうかがえる。他方、芦田自身は『十二ヶ月』を高く評価していたわけではなく、生活綴方運動の担い手達からもほとんど注目されなかった。ここには、『十二ヶ月』発刊時と『意義と価値』発刊時との間に、それを受け止める研究者や教師らの側の認識の相違がある。芦田の死後20年を経て復刊された『十二ヶ月』は、当時の研究者・教師らによっていかに読み直され、それらの読みはどのような「芦田」像を形成したのか。この問いを導きの糸とし、『十二ヶ月』の二次言説を創出した時代的要請を加味し、本書を修養という観点から再検討することで、『十二ヶ月』が有する現代的意義を提示する。

２. 芦田恵之助の軌跡と「教祖化」
芦田の名を一躍世に知らしめた1913年の『綴り方教授』は、彼が東京高師附小の訓導になった８年後、岡田虎二郎の下で静坐をはじめた翌年に著された。芦田は『綴り方教授』を皮切りに多数の著作を発表し、綴方・読方に関する教授法の開発を基軸として教育の刷新を図った。なかでも随意選題は、文章表現方法の教授を中心とした画一的な作文を批判し、初等教育のなかで人格形成を実現する方法として注目を集めた。綴方の文題を児童自らが創作する型破りな手法は、国定教科書がない綴方ゆえに生み出されえたものであった。この教授法は世論を二分し、随意選題論争という論争を巻き起こす。論争を機に芦田は東京高師附小を去ることになるが、同時に全国に多数の支持者を獲得した。この支持者たちが、後に芦田を中心としたネットワークの創出に寄与する。その紐帯となったのは、公職を退いた芦田が全国の小学校を授業して回った「教壇行脚」と、その成果を発信した『同志同行』誌である。『同志同行』は一時期発行部数一万部を超え、購読の母体となった恵雨会は一種の宗派的な団体と捉えられるようになった。この団体において芦田は「教祖的信仰の対象」 (古田 1971: 215) のように扱われるようになる。

３．『綴方十二ヶ月の意義と価値』を通じた芦田の「脱教祖化」
『意義と価値』からは、かねてより批判を集めていた「教祖的信仰の対象」としての芦田を「脱教祖化」することで、彼の思想や実践を改善し生かそうとする意図を汲み取ることができる(上田 1971: 164、古田 1971: 215)。その背景には、教育実践を指導することが困難になりつつあった教育研究に対する課題意識があった。その課題解決の活路を、芦田の教育的遺産に見出そうとしたのである。それは、芦田の徹底した観察 (西尾 1971: 11) 及び子ども観に求められた。芦田は、児童にヒントを出す際にも、「そこにいるひとりひとりの身になって、ひとりひとりをはっきり意識」 (大村 1971: 40) した。「自己」という固有名を尊重するスローガンが、教育研究の科学化や教職のスタンダード化等に付随する問題を乗り越える指導原理として再発見された。

４. 修養論としての『綴方十二ヶ月』の射程
『意義と価値』を通じて再創造された「芦田」像は、自己の確立を援助する「『個人確立時代』の教師」 (波多野 1971: 36) という言葉に集約される。芦田は、この「個人の確立」への道を修養に求めた。『十二ヶ月』は元々、当時勃興しはじめた学校図書館活動に呼応して、児童に清新な読物を提供しようと企画された図書であり、自学や修養の道具だった。たしかに、修養の核心は「自己修養self-cultivation」にある。『意義と価値』では、『十二ヶ月』が、学校ではなく社会教育の場を舞台としている点に注目し、その私事性や禅的な「自己」の超越性が、社会と隔絶していると理解された。しかし、修養には同時に、「人付き合い（人倫関係）の中で徳を養う」（西平 2019: 17）という社会的性質がある。学校を離れた社会教育はたしかに私事であるが、そこにも市民社会の主体形成と規範的秩序の維持という公的な役割が存在する。またそれは、時代や社会の価値体系の中で規定された理想的人間像の実現に向けた社会的な取り組みである。この観点から言えば、芦田を「『個人確立時代』の教師」と規定し、その教育思想を「窓のない」「モナド」(波多野 1971: 36-37) だとした解釈は、芦田の教育思想が有していた社会性を不当に捨象してしまう見方だとみることができる。

５. 芦田恵之助の子ども観における社会性の発掘
『意義と価値』における一連の論考は、『十二ヶ月』の読解を通じて芦田の「脱教祖化」を一定程度実現した。しかしその一方で、新たな「芦田」像を構築し、芦田が修養という概念に託した意味を取りこぼしてしまった。それは、彼の子ども観に内包された社会性を忘却させてしまったことを意味する。そこで最後に、再び『十二ヶ月』に立ち戻ることで、我々は修養論としての『十二ヶ月』を、他者とともに生きる生き方を模索する著作として読み得ることを示したい。

「活動理論の歴史的遺産」である介入主義（interventionism）は、「教える¬－学ぶ」関係として把握されてきた教育活動の歴史において、最も倫理的にエージェンシーの移譲を実現する方法論とみなしうる。本報告では、介入主義に基づく形成的介入研究が要請される時代的背景を近代教育史に照らしてあとづけ、その媒介モデルの二つの原理、すなわちエージェンシー（agency）と混交性（hybridity）について検討する。これにより、形成的介入研究の歴史的特異性を明らかにする。
