    Canonical surfaces with geometric genus four are studied assuming that the image of the canonical map is a normal surface in projective 3-space. It is shown that the degree of the image does not exceed 11 - q. Furthermore, normal canonical sextics surfaces are explicitly constructed, extending a former example due to Zariski.

    The notion of the Yau sequence was introduced by Tomaru, as an attempt to extend Yau's elliptic sequence for (weakly) elliptic singularities to normal surface singularities of higher fundamental genera. We show some fundamental properties of the sequence. Among other things, it is shown that its length gives us the arithmetic genus for singular points of fundamental genus two. Furthermore, an upper bound on the geometric genus is given for certain surface singularities of degree one. The relation between the canonical cycle and the Yau cycle is also discussed.

    For normal two dimensional hypersurface singularities of Brieskorn type, concrete descriptions are given to both the fundamental cycle and the maximal ideal cycle on a star-shaped good resolution space. It is determined when these two cycles coincide.

    We prove that an arbitrary reducible curve on a smooth surface has an essentially unique decomposition into chain-connected curves. Using this decomposition, we give an upper bound of the geometric genus of a numerically Gorenstein surface singularity in terms of certain topological data determined by the canonical cycle. We show also that the fixed part of the canonical linear system of a 1-connected curve is always rational, that is, the first cohomology of its structure sheaf vanishes.

    This note studies the structure of the divisorial fixed part Of |omega D| for a 1-connected curve D on a smooth surface S. It is shown that if the divisorial fixed part F Of |omega D| is non empty then it has arithmetic genus <= 0 and each component of F is a smooth rational curve. The structure of curves D, with non empty divisorial fixed part F for |omega D|, is also described.

    The degree bound for primitive generators and relations of the canonical ling of a minimal surface of general type are studied via Green's Koszul cohomology, assuming that the fixed part of the canonical linear system does not contain any Francia cycles.     A minimal surface of general type with birational canonical map is called a canonical surface, and the quadric hull is defined as the intersection of all hyperquadrics through the canonical image. An upper bound is given for the dimension of the quadric hull of a canonical surface. Also all canonical surfaces on a certain extremal line are classified and their defining equations are given.

    We classify even canonical surfaces on the Castelnuovo lines, and show that the moduli space is non-reduced in many cases. We show that, in most cases, the rational map associated with a semi-canonical bundle induces a linear pencill of nonhyperelliptic curves of genus three, and that a nonsingular rational curve with self-intersection number - 2 appears as a fixed component of the semi-canonical system. By the latter, we can apply a result of Burn and Wahl to show that they are obstructed surfaces.

    I studied the Torelli-type problem for numerically connected effective divisors on a non-singular complex projective surface. Due to its difficulty, I could not obtain a definitive result. I could show some new results during the course of the study, however, on (1) canonical base points of smooth multiple fibers, (2) the behavior of the canonical map for a not necessarily numerically 3-connected curves, or (3) the connectivity of the parameter space for deformations of normally minimal models of singular fibers in a pencil of algebraic curves.

    Smooth projective algebraic surfaces with a fibration over a smooth projective curve are studied through the local analytic or topological invariants such as Horikawa index and local signature. We gave an explicit formula for them for non-hyperelliptic genus 3 fibrations. Also we studied plane curve arrangements through multiple sections of relative Jacobian varieties (of small genus) and produced new examples of Zariski pairs.

    We have studied Galois points for plane curves and some hypersurfaces, after that we have generalized the concept of it and defined Galois embedding of algebraic varieties. Here we study on the Galois embeddings of conclete algebraic varieties. For elliptic curve we embedd it by complete linear system and study the arrangement of Galois lines. For algebraic surface of non-general type we consider if there exists the Galois embedding, in paticular bi-elliptic surface has no Galois embedding. In case some algebraic variety has no Galois embedding, we consider the Galois closure variety, especially we take such variety as smooth cubic.

    First we generalized Zagier’s reciprocity for higer-dimensional Dedekind sum to the case where the given integers satisfy weaker conditions. Our method is geometrical in the sense that the comparison of the invariants of several cyclic quotient singularities induce the reciprocity. The main tool of the proof is the orbifold signature theorem with non-isolated fixed points locus.
    Second, we extended Myerson-Holzapfel formula which expresses the classical Dedekind sum by means of continued fraction as follows: We define the notion of higher-dimensional continued fraction whose algorithm corresponds to the toric resolution process of Fujiki-Oka for cyclic quotient singularities. Then we expressed the three-dimensional Fourier-Dedekind sum with weight zero by means of this continued fraction. As a tool of the proof, we slightly extend the observation of Pommersheim for the Chow ring of simplicial toric varieties.

    In mixed case, we constructed spaces of SL(2)-orbits, fine moduli of log mixed Hodge structures. As geometric applications, we constructed Neron models and showed analyticity of the common zeros of sections of the Neron model. We also constructed a Neron model which accepts any given admissible normal function. As applications of these results to physics, we describe closed and open mirror symmetry for quantic 3-folds. All of these results are published.
    In mixed case, supplementing spaces of nilpotent i-orbits with ratio structure and spaces of SL(2)-orbit with star, we completed an amplified fundamental diagram by which various limits of period maps and normal functions are compared. These results are submitted and available from arXiv.

    We considered normal surface singularities in order to obtain an inequality between the self-intersection number of the canonical cycle and the geometric genus. Our inequality is modeled on the slope inequality for fibred algebraic surfaces, and thus the ratio shuld be expressed as a function in the fundamental genus. We could establish the desired inequalities for double and triple points of cyclic type, by using the canonical resolution. They lead us to another proof for Durfee's conjecture in such special cases.

    Blending birational algebraic geometry and complex dynamics, I found, in my own works and my joint works, the first explicit examples of three dimensional rational manifolds and Calabi-Yau manifolds with biregular primitive automorphisms of positive entropy, a complete affirmative answer to the Kawamata-Morrison cone conjecture when the manifolds are Calabi-Yau manifolds of Wheler type, of any dimension, an affirmative answer to the Ueno (Ueno-Camapana) problem on the unirationality of certain threefolds of quotient type, a negative answer to the Gizatullin problem on the automorphisms of quartic K3 surfaces and the Cremona group of the ambient projectitive three space, as well as some new applications of complex dynamics to the liftability problem of automorphisms of K3 surfaces in positive characteristic. These works are highly estimated and I was elected an invited speaker of the Internatioal Congress of Mathematicians 2014 held at Seoul, Korea.

    We have a new formulation of the local signature of a fiber germ of degeneration of curves as a sum of "moduli term" and "monodromy term" in the following sense.
    The former is defined as the pull back by the moduli map of the signature divisor on the moduli space of stable curves(joint work with Ren-ichi Yoshikawa).
    The latter is called local signature defect, which is obtained via the orbifold signature theorem by interpreting the topological monodromy data as a group action to the stable reduction.

    Suppose an abelian surface A has a Galois embedding. Then, what is the least number n such that A is embedded into the projective n-space? The answer is 7 and moreover such an abelian surface is isomorphic to E×E, where E is an elliptic curve. We considered also the questions for curves. For the plane curve with genus 1 we found the Galois group when it has a Galois point, for the space elliptic curve we found it has always Galois lines.

    We proved a mixed version of SL (2)-orbit theorem. We constructed mixed versions of Borel-Serre compactifications, spaces of SL (2)-orbits, and spaces of nilpotent orbits, and obtained their fundamental diagram. Now the foundation of log mixed Hodge theory is almost established. The relationship between these results and geometry and physics, such as Hodge conjecture, mirror symmetry, etc., is gradually watched.

    We have concentrated on the study of the once-punctured torus, the simplest hyperbolic surface, believing that it would bring us to deep understanding of general hyperbolic surfaces, and obtained the following results. (1) We gave a complete description and proof to Jorgensen's theory on quasifuchsian punctured torus groups. (2) We found an intimate relation between the following two tessellations associated with a punctured torus bundles over the circle ; the Cannon-Thurston-Dicks fractal tessellation and the cusp triangulation induced by the canionical decomposition. We also proposed a conjecture concerning the canonical decompositions of punctured surface bundles over the circle. (3) We gave a complete characterization of those essential simple loops on the bridge sphere of a 2-bridge knot which are null-homotopic in the knot complement.

    (1) By a joint work with Due Tai Pho, we proved the unirationality of supersingular K3 surfaces in characteristic 5 with Artin invariant 〓 3.
    (2) We classified all possible configurations of rational double points on complex normal algebraic K3 surfaces, and discussed the same classification for supersingular K3 surfaces in sufficiently large characteristics.
    (3) We investigated the set of isomorphism classes of transcendental lattices of complex algebraic varieties obained from a single algebraic variety defined over a number field by various embeddings of the base field into the complex number field, and produced many examples of non-homeomorphic complex algebraic varieties that are conjugate under the automorphism of the complex number field.
    In particular, we investigate the case of singular. K3 surfaces by means of the class field theory of imaginary quadratic fields. As an application, we obtained a lower bound of the degree of the base field of singular K3 surfaces.
    (4) Suppose that we obtain a supersingular K3 surface X (P) by reduction at a finite place P of a base field of a singular K3 surface X defined over a number field. We investigated the orthogonal complement of the Neron-Severi lattice of X in that of X (P), and proved an analogous result as the case of the transvendental lattices.
    (5) We proved a Lefschetz hyperplane section theorem for the topological fundamental group of the complement of the duial variety in the Grassmannian variety, and invetigate the Zariski-van Kampen type relation of that fundamental group with the barid group of a punctured Riemann surface.

    be a scheme of line bundles defined by usually, can be defined as a subscheme of Pic^d (C)). Kempfand Kleiman-Laksov prove that the variety W^r_d (C) hasdimension at least p = g-(r+1)(g-d+r). Griffith -Harris and Fulton-Lazarsfeld prove that W^r_d(C) is smooth of dimension p = g-(r+1)(g-d+r) when C is a general curve in the moduli space M_g. "A general curve" means there is an open subset U⊂M_g in M_g, W^r_d(C) is smooth of dimension p = g-(r+1)(g-d+r) for any curve C ∈ U. For a curve C which admits a double covering π:C→E to a curve E of genus h, i.e. a curve which we can not regard as a general curve, we can expect many interesting structure of W^r_d (C). In the papers, we give many good properties of W^r_d(C), especially W^1_d(C).

    We have studied the Galois embedding of algebraic curves and surfaces, especially rational curves and abelian surfaces.
    In the case of abelian surfaces we have obtained all the possible types of the Galois groups which can appear as the covering transformation groups. Moreove we listed a lot of examples of abelian surfaces with given Galois groups of embeddings. In particular we have shown that such abelian surfaces are isogenous to the products of two elliptic curves. On the other hand, we have found the least number N such that abelinan surfaces have the embeddings into PAN. Concernig this study we have studied for singular plane rational curves. We determined all possible type of Galois group, i.e., they are cyclic, dihedral, A_4, S_4 and S_4 and have shown the examples with such Galois groups. Connecting with this research, we have studied if the Galois automorphism can be extended to a birational transformation or not. As a result we have obtained that there are a lot of rational curves such that the autopmorphism cannot be extended to birational transformation, for example we found rational curve with only nodes as singularities and the degree is bigger than 7 with outer Galois point.

    The purpose of the research project is to study pencils of algebraic curves from mainly two sides. One is algebraic geometry and the other is topology. The interaction between two fields of mathematics has been crucial .We paid our special attention to the following topics.
    (1) The slope of fibred algebraic surfaces,
    (2) The localization of signature,
    (3) The Mordell-Weil lattices.
    Our achievements include: the lower bounds of the slopes for fibred rational surfaces, the inequality involving the Clifford index of a general fibre and the Mordell Weil rank, the complete description of fibred rational surfaces with extremal Mordell-Weil rank, the rationality or ellipticity of the singularity obtained by contracting the fixed part of the relative canonial linear system for a normal surface singularity and a fibred algebraic surface, the comparison between local signatures obtained from the eta invariant and semi-stable reduction of a singular fibre germ. During the research period, in total, 57 papers are written and 121 research presentations are given by our investigators. We organized (or co-organized) 6 conferences. Above all, we held the international conference "Algebraic Geometry in East Asia, II" at Hanoi(Vietnam), October 2005, in order to promote research interaction among algebraic geometers in the area. We published the proceedings of the meetings to show the activity of the research project. Also, we invited 6 researchers in abroad and discussed verious problems fruitfully.
    In sum, our purpose has been achieved m great success, thanks to the active contributions and cooperation of our joint investigators.

    In 2005, we have the following development about the local signature and Horikawa index of degenerate families of algebraic curves :
    (1)The case of stable family ; We have already found in 2004 an application of Harris-Mamford formula to maximal-gonal fibration of addgeues. In 2005, We have found a similar application of Eisenbud-Harris formula to even genus case. More precisely, in the case of genus 4, we obtain a formula for local contribution from the Cheu-Konno lower bound But in the case of genus greater than or equal 6, some difficulties remain, because we need more Sharp form of Eisenbud-Harris formula.
    (2)The case of unstable family ; We have already describe in 2004 the behavionr of invariants under the stable reduction by using the Dedekind sam of monodromy data In 2005, we have obtained completely explicite formula for there Dedeking sum tern Therefore we can rewrite out previous formula in a simple form so that the induction with respect to the genus in possible. It seems to be interesting from the number theoretic viewpoint.

    Generalizing toroidal compactifications of Hermitian symmetric domains by Mumford et al., Kazuya Kato and Usui constructed fine moduli spaces of polarized log Hodge structures (PLH, for short). Moreover, we constructed Borel-Serre compactifications and SL(2)-partial compactifications of Griffiths domains, and also a fundamental diagram of the relationship of all these enlarged spaces. This joint will be published as a book of almost 300 pages in the series of Ann. Math. Studies, Princeton University Press.
    Assuming the existence of a complete fan, Usui showed that the image of the extended period map, from a compactification of moduli of varieties of general type to the moduli of PLH, is a separated complex algebraic space. This observation shows in particular that, even if the moduli space of PLH has slits in this case, the image of the extended period map does not touch with these slits. This result was published in J. Alg. Geom. in 2006. The restriction of dimension in this paper is now removed and applicable for all dimensions by a recent great advance in minimal model theory.
    Generalizing SL(2)-orbit theorems of Schmid in pure case in one variable and of Cattani, Kaplan and Schmid in pure case in several variables, Kazuya Kato, Chikara Nakayama and Usui obtained SL(2)-orbit theorem in mixed case in several variables and an estimate of Hodge norm in this situation. This result is submitted.
    Masanori Asakura and Shuji Saito studied the Jacobian rings of open complete intersections and solved Beilinson's Hodge conjecture for sufficiently general open complete intersections. These results were publishes in Math.Zeit., in Math.Nachr., and in publication of London Math.Soc.

    This research addresses the problem of estimating an unknown quantum channel, based on noncommutative statistics and quantum information geometry. Main results are summarized as follows :
    1. Estimation theory for generalized Pauli channels, generalized amplitude-damping channel, SU(d) channel, etc. :
    These channels are the standard ones often used in quantum information theory. Based on noncommutative statistics, quantum information geometry, representation theory, as well as methods of experimental mathematics on a computer, we have obtained the optimal estimation scheme for each of those quantum channels. We also have clarified the underlining differential geometrical mechanism, in particular, the dilation/collapse of quantum statistical manifolds of output quantum states with respect to the quantum entanglement and the degree of extensions, behind the optimality of those estimation schemes.
    2. Asymptotic theory of adaptive estimation schemes based on the locally unbiased estimators :
    The notion of locally unbiased estimators, advocated first by Holevo, has been the target of criticism because the optimal estimation scheme depends on the unknown parameter itself. In order to surmount this difficulty, Nagaoka advocated an adaptive estimation scheme which make use of maximal likelihood estimators as a tentative estimator. However, due to the mathematical difficulty, the analysis of its asymptotic property has been left untouched. In this research, we have proved the strong consistency and the asymptotic efficiency of Nagaoka's adaptive estimation scheme based on the martingale theory.

    The aim to obtain an explicit formula of local signature for the contribution of semi-stable reduction coas completed by applying Atiyah-Singer's G-signature theovem, The main termof the formula consists of Pedeking sams of Nielsen-Matsumoto-Moutesions' monodromy data, and I wrote it in Kokyuroku RIMS1345(2003), PP.203-237.
    The aim to compare Furuta's local signature and Yoshikawa's local signature was almost settled, and I wrote it in the previous RIMS report. But Yoshikawa critacize a cerlain part of the argument, and my study in still on the way at this point.
    On the other hand, I also obtained a formula for the contribution of semi-stavle reduction to Yoshikawa's local signature by using Atiyah-Botl-Segal-Singer's fixed point formula, and I gave a lecture forit at the symposium "Algobraic Geomety and Topoloy of Hodge Theory, Degnerations and Complex Sarface", I am preparing the full paper of these results.

    1.Head investingator, in collaboration with K.Masuda, considered etale endomorphisms of algebraic surfacees admitting G_m-actions and showed that they are automorphisms almost in all cases. On the other hand, he considered a classification of algebraic surfacees with finite group actions arid showed that we can make parallel arguments with the case without group actions but need more subtle arguments. Furthermore, he with K. Masuda considered Q-homology planes admitting two algebraically independent G_a-actions and showed that their universal coverings are hypersurfaces defined by xy=z^2-1.
    2.A.Fujiki considered self-dual metrics for a(differentiable) connected sum mP^2 of the projective plane and associated twister spaces(3-dimensional complex manifolds) and observed maximal value of algebraic dimension which twister spaces can take for various metrics. He obtained many results on the related topics.
    3.T.Hibi considered the Groebner basis of the toric ideal associated with the normalized volumes of configurations related with root systems and complete bipartite graphs. He obtained many results on computational algebras.
    4.S.Usui, in collaboration with K.Kato, realized a so-called Griffith's dream by considering the toroidal compactification of a symmetric space Γ\D, when D has polarized Hodge structures.
    5.Y.Shinohara considered the generalized pretzel links and computed the associated Jones polynomials.

    Let V be a smooth hypersurface in P^<n+1>. We consider a projection of V from P ∈ P^<n+1> to a hyperplane H. This projection induces an extension of fields k(V)/k(H), which does not depend on the choice of H. The point P is called a Galois point if the extension is Galois. If, moreover, P ∈ V [resp. P 【not a member of】 V], then we call P an inner [resp. outer] Galois point. We denote by δ(V) [resp. δ(V^c)] the number of inner [resp. outer] Galois points. We have studied the extension K/K_P from geometrical points of view, especially we have considered the following problems:
    (1) Find all the Galois points. Do there exist any rules for the distribution of the points ?
    (2) Find the structure of the Galois group G_P at each point P ∈ P^<n+1>.
    (3) Find the structure of a nonsingular projective model of L_P.
    As results we have obtained the following; If V is general in the class of hypersurfaces with d 【greater than or equal】 4, then it has no Galois point. If d = 4 and d 【greater than or equal】 5, then δ(V) 【less than or equal】 4([n/2] + 1) and δ(V) 【less than or equal】 [n/2] + 1 respectively. On the other hand we have δ(V^c) 【less than or equal】 n + 2. The equality holds true if and only if V is projectively equivalent to the Fermat variety.

    (1)Fundamental groups and branched coverings. M.Namba gave with H.Tsuchihashi a method for concrete computations of fundamental groups of the compliments of curves in the complex projective plane and finite branched Galois coverings branching along the curves, and gave a new example of Zariski pair using the method.
    (2)Generaliztion of Epsein-Penner decomposition. H.Akiyoshi and M.Sakuma gave a generalization of the Epstein-Penner decompositions of cusped hyperbol manifolds of finite volume to those of infinite volume, and studied relation with the convex cores. They collaborated with M.Wada and Y.Yamashita and gave partial answer and experimental evidences to their conjecture that the pleating loci would determine the generalized Epstein-Pener decompositions for punctured torus groups.
    (3)H.Akiyoshi, M.Miyachi and M.Sakuma have established a variation of McShane's identity for punctued surface bundles over a circle, which expresses the modulus of cusptori in terms of the complex translation lengths of essential simple loops of the fiber surfaces.
    (4)Drawing the 3D slices of the quasifuchsian punctured torus space. M.Wada and Y.Yamashita developed a software to draw (real) 3-dimensional slices of the quasifuchsian punctured torus space

    (i) We construct Galois coverings π : X → Y for certain finite groups G containing dihedral groups and symmetric groups such that any Galois covering W → Z of a compact protective variety Z with Gal(W/Z) 【similar or equal】 G, is obtained as the fiber product of π and a rational map from Z to Y. As an application, we show that for any Galois covering of the projective plane with the Galois group isomorphic to the dihedral group of order 2 r(r is odd), the branch locus is defined by a homogeneous polynomial f satisfying fh^2 =g^2_1 + g^r_2 for certain homogeneous polynomials h, g_1 and g_2.
    (ii) We compute the fundamental groups of the complements for certain curves on the projective plane. As an application, we obtain a new Zariski pair each curve of which consists of four conics and has only nodes and tacnodes as singularities. Moreover, we give a method computing the fundamental groups of Galois coverings of the projective plane.
    (iii) Let X be a Galois covering of the projective plane and let ^^-__X be the minimal resolution of X. We obtain the following results. If every subgroup of Gal(X/P^2) is normal, then the irregularity of ^^-__X is equal to zero. If Gal(X/P^2) is isomorphic to the dihedral group of order 2p (p is an odd prime), then the irregularity of ^^-__X is a multiple of p - 1.
    (iv) We classify Galois coverings from projective spaces to theirselves.
    (v) We give a method constructing new examples of Galois covering of the projective plane whose universal coverings are isomorphic to the 2-dimensional polydisk or open ball. Moreover, we show how to calculate the differential equations the ratios of whose linearly independent four solutions give uniformizations.

    非特異代数曲線を標準写像で埋め込み、線形部分空間からの射影を考察した。その射影に付随する直線束が単一生成的になるための条件を曲線の不変量を用いて記述することを試みた。また、射影による像が2次超曲面で切り取られるための条件を考察した。射影をとらない状態では、マックスネーターの定理およびエンリケス・ペトリの定理として知られているように、標準束はクリフォード指数が正のとき単一生成的であり、クリフォード指数が2以上ならば標準像は2次超曲面で切り取られる。そこで、射影の中心と標準曲線の交点の数とクリフォード指数を用いれば上記の問題の答えが得られるだろうという作業仮説に基づいて考察を進めた。その結果、ほとんどすべての曲線に対して、射影付きの状態でマックスネーター型定理およびエンリケス・ペトリ型定理を証明できた。実際、クリフォード指数を与える、ある意味で最も小さな線形系に属する数個の点が生成する線形部分空間からの射影は、それを誘導する直線束を著しく弱くし、その結果、単一生成性が崩れていくことがわかった。例えば、次数5以上の非特異平面曲線を例にとると、クリフォード指数は次数から4を減じることで得られる。平面曲線と一般の直線の次数個の交点の中から丁度クリフォード指数個の点を選んで、それらが生成する線形部分空間を中心とする標準曲線の射影を考えると、それは単一生成的でない。これは大変豊富であるが単一生成的でない直線束の具体例にもなっている。また、クリフォード指数から1を減じた個数の点が生成する線形部分空間からの射影は単一生成的だが、像は2次超曲面では切り取られない。

    以下の場合に、群環のいわゆるワイルドな表現型をもつブロック多元環上の既約加群は、アウスランダーライテングラフの端に位置することが証明できた。
    (1)有限シュバレー群に対し、素数が定義体の標数の場合
    (2)有限シュバレー群に対し、素数が定義体の標数でなく、かつ、いわゆるリニアである場合
    (3)対称群、交代群とその被覆群の場合
    (4)いくつかの散在型有限単純群の場合
    しかし、F4型の有限シュバレー群で定義体の標数が2で群環の標数がリニアでないとき、また、ラドバリスの散在型単純群の被覆群のときには、アウスランダーライテングラフの端に位置しない既約加群が存在することも分かった。なお、これらのときは、いずれもその既約加群は、アウスランダーライテングラフにおいて端から2番目の場所に位置する。一方、一般の有限群の場合に有限単純群、あるいは、その被覆群の場合に問題を帰着できることも証明されており、有限単純群の分類定理を用いると上記の結果により一般の場合にも、ほとんどの場合(上の二つの群が関与しない場合)既約加群は、アウスランダーライテングラフの端に位置することが期待できる。
    以下の場合に群環のアウスランダーライテングラフの各連結成分における既約加群の個数が高々1個であることが証明できた。
    (1)有限シュバレー群に対し、素数が定義体の標数の場合
    (2)群のシロー2部分群が可換で素数が2の場合
    (3)対称群の場合
    また、群環の不足群の位数が4であるブロック多元環について、アウスランダーライテングラフの端に位置し、かつ、剛性をもつ加群の特徴付けを行い、それを用いてこのようなブロック多元環の間の導来同値の再構成を行った。

    We focussed our study on the "Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence for manifolds" which is one of the most interesting topics in our project. For a Fano manifold, such a correspondence is supposed to relate the Chow-Mumford stability of the manifold with the existence of Kahler-Einstein metrics. As a first step, we obtained :
    (1) For a certain generalization of Kahler-Einstein metrics, we showed the uniqueness of such metrics modulo holomorphic automorphisms on a given Fano manifold. Hence, even in this generalized context, the above correspondence is one-to-one. (In the case of Kahler-Ricci solitons, a similar result was obtained also by Tian and Zhu.)
    Recently, we also saw the following :
    (2) In a joint work with H.Nakagawa, we succeeded in characterizing the Futaki character of a Fano manifold as an obstruction to Chow-Mumford semistability of the manifold.
    (3) In complex analytic studies of a polarized manifold, the asymptotic stability of the manifold has a strong relationship, via the asymptotic behavior of the Bergman metrics, with the existence of metrics of constant scalar curvature in the polarized Kahler class.

    The aim of this research is to construct a new unifying method to study low dimensional topology from a view point of the quantum structure of Riemann surfaces. To do this, research was done for two areas. One is geometric aspect and the other is algebraic aspect. It is revealed that the volume of the complement of a hyperbolic knot is given by quantum invariants of the knot. Moreover, there is some indication that the volume of a hyperbolic three-manifold is also given by the quantum invariants of the manifold. These facts suggest that the quantum invariants of knots and three-manifolds include various geometric information, and efficiency of the method to study geometric properties from quantum invariants are pointed out.
    We also study about the finite-type invariants and the web diagrams, which are related to certain expansion of quantum invariants, and get some new properties of them.
    Quantum invariants are closely related to conformal field theory and theory of q-deformation, and some results for these theories are obtained. In the study of vertex operator algebras, the relation between modular forms and the correlation functions in conformal field theory is given. In the study of the theory of q-deformation, modular representations of finite groups are studied. The heart (quotient of the radical by the socle) of projective indecomposable modules are investigated, and the case that the heart is not indecomposable is determined. Moreover, q-deformation of a Frobenius-Schur character of complex reflection groups is defined and computed actually for the symmetric groups and imprimitive complex reflection groups.

    1. 既約加群は、剛性をもつことが知られているため、既約加群の加群圏での位置と剛性をもとに射影加群や群環自身の構造を調べることを試みている。加群圏での位置とは、加群圏のアウスランダー・ライテン・グラフ上の位置のことである。既約加群は、特定の場合を除いてアウスランダー・ライテン・グラフの端点に現われると予想されていたが、これには反例があることが確認された。しかしながら、多くの場合、この予想が正しいことも証明された。具体的には、次の事実が示された。
    (1) 有限代数群で考えている素数が定義体の標数と一致する場合、予想は正しい。
    (2) 対称群、交代群については予想は正しい。
    (3) 考えている素数が2で群の2シロー部分群が可換の場合、予想は正しい。
    (4) いくつかの散在型単純群で予想は正しい。
    (5) 予想に反例がある場合、その群に哩め込まれている準単純群のいずれかで、やはり予想は成立しない。従って、予想の証明は、その群に埋め込まれている準単純群の場合に帰着される。
    (6) 予想には反例がある。現在知られている反例はふたつである。
    (1)(2)(3)(4)の証明には、それぞれの群について成立しているかなり深い事実を用いる。また、(6)の反例の発見は、ドイツ、アーヘン工科大学ヒス教授の計算機による分解行列の計算に負っている。反例となっている既約加群の次元は875823である。
    2. 加群圏のアウスランダー・ライテン・グラフのひとつの連結成分が含み得る既約加群の数は高々ひとつであろうと予想されている。これについても、(1)有限代数群で考えている素数が定義体の標数と一致する場合、(2)対称群、交代群、(3)考えている素数が2で群の2シロー部分群が可換の場合については正しいことが証明された。

    本年度は、一般のTrube domain上のKoecher Maass級数の解析接続、関数等式、を証明した。またKoecher Maass級数を用いた保型形式のliftingの記述、応用の可能性を研究した。これは昨年度の研究でDukeとImamogluによるKoecher Maass級数を用いたSaito-Kurokawa liftingの別証明を深く研究したとき以来の懸案でもあった。研究代表者はかなり以前より直接フーリエ係数を用いる形で1変数から偶数次数のジーゲル保型形式への具体的なリフティングの予想を持っていたが、はからずも今年度にDukeとImamoguluによる類似の(しかしstandard L関数によってリフティングを記述するという点ではかなり異なる)予想が伝えられ、さらにはBreulmannとKussがこれを数値実験で検証するという進展があった。全く違った発想で本質的に同じ現象の別の側面と思われる予想がたてられたということは予想の正当性を裏付けるものであると思う。現在我々はこれと類似の実験をKoecher Maass級数という観点で実行しつつあるし、また考え得る証明の方針、さらにはどの部分が難しいのかといったことも、かなり見えてきた。この点では、Koecher Maass級数の有用性もはっきりしてきたといえる。萌芽的研究の目的である新しい分野を開くという点では次の研究につなげることができ、成功であったと考える。研究に関連して、研究代表者はジョルダン代数について金沢大学にて発表を行い、代数曲線の有理点について東京大学で、また2次形式のゼータ関数(特に不定符号の場合)について、山形大学、京都大学等で発表し、韓国西江大学校での研究集会「整数論ミニコース」で集中講義を行うとともに、延世大学校の談話会で発表をおこなった。また、秋には第1回整数論オータムワークショップを主催し、研究交流によりGL_nの保型形式とリフティングの関連について理解を深め、また12月にはドイツ国オーベルボルファッハ研究所では国際研究集会の共同議長を務め、かつ講演も行った。

    We held also this year the Research Meeting which continues more than ten years :
    "Hodge Theory Log Geometry Degenerations" October 12-16, 1998, Izumigo, Yatsugatake, Kitakoma-gun. Yamanashi, Organizers : Masaniri Asakura, Tatsuya Arakawa, Sampei Usui.
    The topics of this year is as in the title. There were 16 expositions on this topics and there were stimulating discussions among the participants.
    We held the following mini-workshop. All participants exposed their research results an4 had stimulating discussions among them : "Hodge Theory and Algebraic Geometry", January 28-31, 1999, Edel Sasayuri, Yatiyo-cho, Tka-gun, Hyogo, Organizer : Sampei Usui.
    As in the last year, we had communications with the local people including high school students in leisure time. Both of us were satisfied with these communications.
    Each research result is as follows : Sampei Usui and Kazuya Kato worked together and succeeded to construct (partial) compactifications of arithmetic quotients of classifying spaces of Hodge structures with arbitrary Hodge types. This is a generalization of toroidal compactifications by Mumford et al. for Hermitian symmetric domains. We are preparing the paper. Kawamata investigated the deformations of canonical singularities and the extendability of pluri-canonical forms. Mukai made an exposition on polarized K3 surfaces in Euroconference in 1998. Mori made an exposition under the title of Rational curves on algebraic varieties and K Kato made an exposition under the title of Bloch Conjecture and p-adic epsilon elements in the Final Taniguchi Symposium in Nara, December 1998. Usui made an exposition under the title of Logarithmic Hodge structures and their classifying spaces and Masahiko Saito made an exposition under the title of Prepotentials of Yukawa couplings of certain Calabi-Yau 3-folds in NATO Advanced Study Institute in Banif, June 1998. Konno succeeded to solve 1-2-3 Conjecture of Reid completely. Ashikaga and Arakawa worked together and solved the Morsifications for hyper-elliptic pencils. Usa introduced and investigated the notion of geometric shells.

    1.特殊線形群については、低次のものに対して(5次以下)、鍵となる素数が定義体の標数を割る場合にデイド予想が成立することが検証された。さらに、ブロックごとに検証することにより、射影特殊線形群についても低次のものに対し予想が検証された。
    2.上記の結果では、やはり、放物型部分群の巾単部分の表現の放物型部分群の作用による軌道分解の解析が重要であった。そこで、この軌道の解析結果を一般化することを試み、かなりの軌道について満足のいくパラメトリゼイションを得た。特に、巾単部分の自明な表現の軌道から得られる(放物型部分群の)表現の個数について比較的簡明な関係式を得た。このことは、アルペリン-マッケイ予想とも関連し、興味深い。
    3.交代群の場合、必要な議論の複雑度は、対称群の場合と比較にならない程増すが、対称群の場合に用いられた方法を相当一般化し、特殊線形群の場合の結果を応用すれば、この場合も検証できると予想される。これについては、対称群の場合の議論の最終の2,3ステップを残して一般化を完了し、かつ、特殊線形群の場合の結果を応用し易いよう改良を試みた。したがって、交代群の場合の検証に至る議論もかなり進んだといえる。
    個々のステップにおいては、組合せ論的、整数論的、代数幾何学的考察、また、計算機の運用が有益であった。また、デイド予想について数多くの場合を検証しているアン博士(ニュージーランド、オ-クランド大学)を研究の中間段階で日本に招へいし、助言を得たことも大きな影響を与えた。上記の結果についての詳細の発表は、現在準備中である。

    近年,いくつかの幾何学的不変量が,数理物理との関連からファインマン積分の形で導入・提案されてきた.ファインマン積分は,数学的な基礎付けが不十分であるにもかかわらず,これらの不変量は別の形で数学的な基礎付けがなされている.さらに,これらのファインマン積分には物理的に意味のあるパラメータが入っており,このパラメータに関する漸近展開からもさまざまな不変量を考えることができる.ここでは主にリーマン多様体間の写像空間上のファインマン積分を考える.すなわち定義域多様体 と値域多様体を固定し,定義域多様体から値域多様体への写像から定義される関数(主要部はこの写像のエネルギー指数関数)をこの写像空間上積分する.
    値域多様体が一般のケーラー多様体の場合にファインマン積分の高次摂動展開を考えることにより,Gromov-Witten不変量の一般化を導入し,さまざまな表示をえることを長期的な目標とし、平成8年度は,定義域多様体が2次元球面の場合を考えた。Gromov-Witten不変量は,擬正則曲線のモデュライ空間上の積分として、表わせるという結果が出たため(深谷-小野)、直観的には停留点法から得られるファインマン積分の値に等しいと理解できた。高次摂動展開のため、このモデュライ空間を写像空間に埋め込み、そこでの法バンドルを考える必要がある。さらに、このモデュライ空間はコンパクトではないため、コンパクト化への法バンドルの拡張が必要になる。平成8年度は、先に引用した結果の理解とこの拡張の構成に終始した。高次摂動展開には至らなかったが、そのための基礎的な枠組みの構成の見通しを得た。

  • ケーラー多様体上の相対エントロピー

    相対エントロピーとは確率分布族のモジュライ空間上で定められる距離関数に類似した量で、モジュライ空間に自然なリーマン計量を定める。特に、運動量写像や上記のリーマン計量を介して、多項分布の双対として複素射影空間上の標準的なアインシュタイン=ケーラー計量が得られることが知られている。これは情報幾何における相対エントロピーという概念が、ケーラー多様体上でのある種の非線形可積分系やモジュライ空間、更には適当なシンメトリーの下での運動量写像と何らか深くかかわっていることを示唆している。こういう観点から、シンプレクティック構造の退化した場合の運動量写像の研究を小田(昌史)、野田(知宣)両氏と共同で行った。また類似の観点から、アインシュタイン=ケーラー計量とモジュライ空間の関わりについてのティアンの最近の仕事の整理及び見直しを、シンガポール大学のLin Weng氏と共同で推し進めた。
    一方、ケーラー多様上の(上記の相対エントロピーを含めた)より一般的な諸構造の系統的研究が、例えばmultiplier ideal sheaf,HoгmanderのL^2-method、特異エルミート計量等の道具を用いて新たな展開を見せようとしている。これは重要な方向性として“森理論の局所化"の前段階を含むが、こうした新しい視点から多重種数の変形不変性予想をとらえ直す作業を、辻元氏と共同で行っている。また、これら活動の一環として、1996年11月5日から8日まで、菅平に於て、少数精鋭方式の研究集会“複素幾何シンポジウム"を24名の参加者を以てとり行った。

    The purpose of our research was :
    (1) to reduce the vortex filament equation to the nonlinear Schrodinger equation.
    (2) by the reducing, to prove the existence of solutions.
    (3) application of them.
    We got the following results corresponding to each.
    (1) We analyzed the problem on three-dimensional homogeneous spaces, which heavily reflect the differential geometric aspect of the equation. As the result, we have shown that the vortex filament equation corresponds to a nonlinear Schrodinger equation similar to the case of the euclidean space.
    (2) We proved the existence of the solutions of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation. It implies that there is a short time solution of the vortex filament equation.
    (3) In the above procedure, we have shown that the short time existence of the solutions of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation is stable under adding certain terms. On the uniqueness of the solution, we have proved that it always holds.

    1.The head investigator, Masayoshi Miyanishi, gave new proofs to the Abhyankar-Moh Theorem and the Lin-Zaidenberg Theorem which are based on the classification theory of open algebraic surfaces. He considered the embeddings of affine curves with one-place points at infinity into the affine plane and classified such embeddings of possibly minimal degree when the genus is low. He, furthermore, simplified a proof in P.Roberts' counterexample to the fourteenth problem of Hilbert.
    2.Akira Fujiki found a natural partial compactification of hyper kahler manifolds as quaternionic manifolds which are obtained as hyper Kahler quotinet spaces of certain kinds. He also investigated the variation via moment maps of Kahler quotient spaces by making use of equivariant cohomology groups.
    3.Sanpei Usui proved that one can recover vanishing cycles by using log geometry. As applications of this result, he clarified the Z-structure of the variation of Hodge structures and the description of monodromies.
    4.Jun Murakami constructed a new invariant for three-dimensional manifolds which is based on the Kontsevich invariant for the knots and studied its properties. He constructed a topological quantum theory by making use of this invariant, and a family of mapping groups of surfaces as its application.
    5.Kazuhiro Konno defined a new index for surfaces with non-hyperelliptic pencils and found some general method to investigate the lower bound of the slopes of surfaces. He also an index, called the Horikawa index, for degenerate fibers.
    6.Hiroyuki Yamane obtained a new technique to calculate the index of the BMW algebras which are defined in a paper of Rham.

    本年度は、保型形式として、主として重さk(整数)の次数nのSiegel Eisenstein級数E^n_k(Z)をとりあげ、ゼータ関数としては、それに付随するKoecher Maassのディリクレ級数L(s,E^n_k(Z))(E^n_k(Z)のMellin変換で得られるゼータ関数)を取り上げた。このゼータ関数の具体型はn=1は古典的によく知られている。また、n=2はフーリエ係数のMaassによる公式から、Boechererが導いている。しかし、一般の公式は予想等もこめても、全くなにも知られていなかった。今年度のこの研究におけるわれわれの主定理として、L(s,E^n_k)の完全に具体的な公式を得た。結論は、多く専門家の思いこみに反して、いたって単純な形に記述される。すなわち、nが奇数ならリーマンゼータ関数の平行移動の積の2つの線形結合になり、またnが偶数なら、重さ半整数の2つの1変数Eisenstein級数のMellin変換のconvolution productとリーマンゼータの平行移動の積、およびリーマンゼータの平行移動の積の2つのディリクレ級数の和になる。以上、本研究代表者が研究課題名(オイラー積の和としてのゼータ)に予言した通りの方向で結論が得られたわけであり、これは、研究方向の正当性とKoecher Maassディリクレ級数がヘッケ作用素による従来のゼータ関数と同じように非常に興味深い対象であることの両方を指し示しており、保型形式論の今までにない新しい側面を切り開く成果であると信ずる。なお、以上の成果に関連して、大阪大学、京都大学、九州大学、室蘭工業大学等で講演を行った。

    研究課題に従い、物理数学に現われる偏微分方程式の研究、擬微分作用素論の研究更にはフーリエ解析の応用として高次元空間におけるウェーブレット理論などについて研究した。
    研究代表者は擬微分作用素の基礎理論、特にL^p-理論について研究し、L^p(IR^n)からL^q(IR^n)(p<q)への有界性に関して成果を得た(発表予定)。またウェーブレット理論についても3次元空間IR^3でのウェーブレットに関して単純ウェーブレットと呼ばれるウェーブレットの構成法について成果を得た。この検証にあたりコンピューターを用いてこの構成法で8通りのウェーブレットが構成できること及び4次元以上の空間では単純ウェーブレットの構成は不可能であることなどを得て数学的な証明を与えた。また高次元多重ウェーブレット(multi-dimensional multi-wavelet)について新しい構成法を引き続き研究している。

  • 代数多様体の構造と位相の研究ジャコビアン予想の解決に向けて

    ジャコビアン予想の解決を目指して、完備または非完備な代数曲面を中心として、その構造と位相に関する研究を行った。
    1.2次元のジャコビアン予想は、f,gをC[x,y]の元で、ジャコビアン行列式j(f.g)=1となるものとするとき、微分作用素δ=f_x∂/∂y-f_y∂/∂_xが局所巾零であるという条件と同値である。これを研究するために、素元分解環RについてSpec(R)上のvector fieldを分類することを考えた。δ-integral element,δ-integral factorの概念を導入し、δ-integral elementのなす部分環R_δによって分類にいたる結果を得た。
    2.Abhyankar-Moh-Suzukiによるアフィン直線のアフィン平面への埋め込みの線形化に関する定理を、種数が低い場合に拡張したW.D.Neumannの結果がある。これは無限遠点において定められるknotの性質を調べることによってなされたが、新たに代数曲線の極小退化の観点から代数幾何学的証明を与えた。
    3.一般型ホモロジー曲面の第1及び第2Chern類については、宮岡-Vau型の不等式が成立する。特に完備な場合で、種数2のファイバー束の構造がある場合にはXiaoによって、(c_1)^2≦2c_2が成立するが、ホモロジー曲面で一般ファイバーがC^<2・>に同型であるようなファイバー束の構造がある場合には、Xiaoの結果と同じ結果が成立することを示した。(杉江徹(滋賀大)との共同研究)
    4.上記Abhyankar-Moh-Suzukiの定理、およびアフィン平面上の可縮曲線がx^m-y^n=0の形に書けるというLin-Zaidenber-Moh-Suzukiの定理を非完備代数曲面の分類論の立場から証明を与えた。元の証明に比べて大幅に簡略化できる。(R.V.Gurjarとの共同研究)
    上記1,2,3,4の研究は高次数の多項式の処理と数値的な裏付けが必要であるが、本科研費の設備費で購入したNextStepにより実行した。

  • 標準曲面の2次包

    本年度研究計画に従い標準曲面およびその2次包の研究を行なった。まず、2次包の次元の取りうる値の上限を考察し、2次式の数え上げ法と宮岡-Yauの不等式を用いて高々19であることを示した。幾何種数が十分大きければ,同じく高々9であることもわかった。同時に,2次包の観点から見て重要であると思われる直線をいくつか見出した。今後の調査が待たれる。一方、2次包の幾何学と標準曲面のそれが関連する例として三角的曲線束を持つ曲面の傾きを調べた。まさに2次包の影響によって超楕円曲線束の場合とは著しく異なる傾きの下限を発見できた事は本研究の特筆すべき成果である。但し、当初の目的だったエンリケス・ペトリ定理の高次元化が達成できなかったのは残念である。リ-ド予想と併せて今後の課題である。
    また,2次包を構成する際の障害となる不正則数に対しても考察し、曲面と3-foldの場合に一定の成果が得られた。いずれの場合も標準写像が著しく退化すると,不正則数は余り大きくなれない事がわかり、標準一次系の強さと他の不変量との関係が明らかになりつつある。
    以上の成果は順次論文としてまとめた上で発表する予定である。

    The central purpose of this project was to study higher dimensional algebraic varieties, specially from the viewpoint of external rays. We aimed at the study of the various aspects of algebraic varieties by supporting 20 Japanese mathematicians participating in the algebraic geometry year at MSRI (92/93) and RGI summer institute 93. The project also partially supported Fulton, Looijenga and Matsuki.
    Kollar, Miyaoka and Mori have been jointly studying the deformation of algebraic curves on an algebraic variety. Kollar has combined the deformation method with fundamental groups to construct the Shafarevich maps in his recent study of algebraic varieties with big algebraic fundamental groups. They also generalized Kawamata's boundedness theorem of Q-Fano 3-folds to arbitrary Picard number case.
    As for 3-dimensional minimal model theory, Matsuki generalized Kawamata's important abundance theorem to the log case jointly with S. Keel and J. McKernan. Kawamata proved the semi-stable minimal model theory in positive characteristics. Mori proved Reid's general elephant conjecture for arbitrary 3-dimensional flipping contractions.
    Special varieties are also studied : Oguiso studied on fiber space structures of Calabi-Yau 3-folds, Mukai on Gorenstein Fano 3-folds and Konno on special canonical mappings of surfaces of general type. Cho and Miyaoka are working on the characterization of projective spaces.
    A few from other aspects : Kyoji Saito has expressed Teichmuller spaces as real semi-algebraic affine schemes defined over the ring of integers. Usui constructed certain partial compactifications of the arithmetic quotients of the classifying spaces of Hodge structures, and Masahiko Saito studied Neron models using canonical extensions of Hodge structures.

    アダマール多様体上の可視性公理(第一公理)がEberlein-O'Neillによって定義され、古典的結果として、断面曲率が負の定数で上から抑えられていればそうなること、及び、曲面の場合には任意の扇状部分の全曲率が非有界であることと同値となること、が知られている。これ等定理の証明の本質的部分は曲面上のガウス-ボンネの定理である。又、一点の極座標表示を用いて直接仰角を評価することにより、上江洲は後者を一般次元へ拡張し、ヤコビ場の長さの増大度による同値な表現を得ている。他方、Gromorは透徹した思考の下にアダマール多様体の基本性質を調べ、理想境界上にティッツ距離を導入した。その議論の本質的部分は(1)距離関係の凸性、定曲率空間における余弦公式と比較定理だけに基づく初等幾何学的処理、(2)結果として、ティッツ距離が距離球面の内部距離の極限として表され、可視性公理がこの距離の非有界性と同値であること(他の同値な条件も与えた)、にあることを指摘したい。このティッツ距離の表示とヤコビ場の長さの増大度の類似性に着目し、これ等議論においては比較定理を用いたヤコビ場の長さの評価のみが重要と思われた。そこで、このティッツ距離をヤコビ場と結びつけて解釈し直すことにより、可視性公理及びそれに関連する性質を整理統合し統一的に扱うことが可能となった。即ち、上江洲の定理のティッツ距離に基づく別証、上記定理のガウス・ボンネにようない証明、アダマール多様体が頂点をもつ回転体(即ち、Greene-Wuによるmodel)の場合には簡明な表現等が得られた。その応用として、Abreschによる漸近的非負曲率多様体におけるヤコビ型2階常微分方程式の解の評価に関する議論を精密化することにより、このmodelIにおいては可視性公理が曲率位数,安定ヤコビ場の長さでも表せれ、このことからゼロ公理への一つの判定条件が示せた。

    私は森の定理:TxがアンプルならXはP^nに同型の一般化として次の問を考えた。即ち『接束Txが半アンプルベクトル束(:O_<IP(Tx)>(1)^<【○!X】m>(m≫0)が底点をもたぬ』)のファノ多様体は有理等質射影多様体か。そして平成3年度の具体的実績として∧^^2Txがアンプルな射影多様体は,P^nか2次超曲面であるという定理をえた。まず微分幾何の方に“bisectional曲字が非負"であれば同種の結果がえられるというMokによる結果があるが,上の条件“"は『』より強く,それ故,等質空間をえるための有効な定理がBergerによりすでに準備されていることをことわっておきたい。さて定理をえるために次数が一番小さい有理端曲線の族を考える。その中で一点Aを通るそれらの曲線の合併X_Aは(イ)X全体か(ロ)Xのdivisorを構成する。((イ)はP^n,(ロ)は2次超曲面を導く)。(イ)は森の定理と密接に関連するが,彼の取り扱かっているよりたちの悪い有理曲線(ノ-ダル曲線,カスピダル曲線)の可能性があり、これを除外しなければならない。そのためにTxをその上に制限してできるベクトル束を綿密に調べ,X内での挙動より矛盾に至る。この議論は,さらに複雑な有理等質空間をえるためのステップとして重要な位置にあると思はれる。(ロ)はX_Aが全体をはらぬことより、それ自身をしらべるためにAをXの中で動かす。故にX_AがAのみで特異点をもつ錐になることがわかる。私はこの方法で例えばXがグラスマン多様体をえるための議論をしたいが,この時はX_Aの1次元がXに比してさらに小さくなり取り扱いが一層困難になる。しかし,一般の場合への足がかりとしての意義は確かにあると思う。(この結果は趙康治(九大・理)との共同研究である)。上の結果の他に私は、正標数で‘宮岡・森による数値的条件による単線繊性'と‘分離的単線繊性'とが,異なっていることを非特異代数多様体を作ることによって示した。

    次の三つの会を催した。
    (1)代数幾何学とHodge理論研究集会、1989年8月23ー28日、於北大理、主催者:臼井三平、参加者42名、旅費謝金支給者11名。
    (2)代数幾何学とHodge理論ワ-クショップ、1989年11月28日ー12月1日、於高知大理、主催者:臼井三平、参加者31名、旅費支給者7名。
    (3)代数幾何学ミニシンポジュ-ム、1989年12月21ー22日、於東大理、主催者:川又雄二郎、参加者73名、旅費謝金支給者8名。
    (1)と(2)では、計画書及び申請書に記したように、1990年8月に京都で開催される国際数学者会議、東京で開催される代数幾何学と複素多様体のサテライトコンファレンスの準備の一環として、代数幾何学とHodge理論の関係に重点をおいて、各自の研究成果を発表し、世界でのこの分野の動向について討論した。そのうち特に、3次元の分類論の成果を踏まえた曲面の分類・退化および変形理論と、それに伴なう(混合)Hodge構造の変形理論が全体を通じての主題であった。(1)と(2)での成果はまとめて北大講究録シリ-ズとして1990年5月頃に公表し、世界の主要研究所に配布する予定であり、現在準備中である。投稿者18名。
    (3)は総合研究(A)(代表者:宮西正宜、阪大理)との共催によるもので、テ-マをより広く代数幾何学とし、若手研究者を主体とした会であった。この成果は上記の総合研究(A)により、公表される。
    以上の外、臼井と分担者の斎藤政彦、今野一宏は特に密接に連絡を取り合い、曲面のTorelli問題について討議を深めた。
    なお、代表者・分担者等の研究発表については、裏面11欄に記入出来なかった分は別紙として添える。
    交付額の範囲内で上記の計画を実施するため旅費不足となり、当初予定していた印刷費を旅費の補充とし、研究成果の公表は上記の様にした。

  • 偏微分方程式の実および複素解析的研究

    研究代表者島倉は、n次正定値実対称行列の空間で定義された、ある2階楕円型偏微分作用素の基本解の研究を行った。空間の形状が複雑で、その境界での作用素の退化のし方も複雑なので、基本解もそれらの複雑さを反映して多様な特異性を示すものと予想される。n=2の場合には基本解の構成に成功したので、近々発表する予定である。より高次の場合の研究を現在行っているが、行列を変数する様々な特殊的数が重要な役割を演じるものと思われる(研究発表1参照)。
    研究分担者加藤は、有限または無限の時間遅れを含む微分方程式の解の安定性の研究を行った。まず、解の有界性の概念も、時間遅れが有限であるか無限であるかによって異なる。この違いは方程式の具体例において端的に示される(研究発表2,3参照)。
    研究分担者猪狩は、多変数のハ-ディ空間を研究した。これは多変数のマルティプライア-および特異積分作用素の研究の基礎として重要である。ハ-ディ空間の元のアトム分解定理が得られた。
    研究分担者斉藤は、作用素環の順序構造と表現論の両立性の研究を行った。両立性の観点から興味深いある種の環の構造を完全に決定することに成功した(研究発表4参照)。
    研究分担者高木は、発生生物学の形態形成モデルに関係した半線形楕円型偏微分方程式に対するノイマン問題を研究した。ある仮定のもとで、その最小エネルギ-解は領域の境界上の唯一点で最大値をとることを示した(研究発表5参照)。
    研究分担者今野は、等質ケ-ラ-多様体における一般トレリ問題を研究した。さらに無限小トレリ問題、変分トレリ問題についても成果をあげた(研究発表6参照)。

    本研究に於いて各分担者はそれぞれ次のような研究成果を得た。
    保型形式論からの研究を行なった佐武と特異点論からの研究をした尾形は、その共通部分にあたる対称空間の離散群の作用による商空間に現れるカスプ特異点について、リ-マンロッホの定理とゼ-タ関数の零での値から得られる2つの不変量を研究してその計算法を求めた。
    代数幾何学からの研究を行なった研究代表者の石田は佐武と尾形によって研究された不変量について、代数幾何におけるト-リック多様体の理論を発展させることにより、その計算法を具体化した。また星形化可能錐体から実際に作られた作られたカスプ特異点について不変量の計算を行ない双対性が期待出来ることを実験的に示した。
    同じく代数幾何学からの研究を行った小田は、代数幾何学の定理で解析的な証明した無い強レフシェッツ定理をト-リック多様体の場合について組み合わせ論的な証明を考え部分的に成功した。またそれに関連してト-リック多様体の双有理幾何学について組み合わせ論に基づいた基礎的な研究を行った。
    数論との関連から研究を行った森田はP進体上のディリクレ指標に対するP進L関数のIでの値の下からの評価をベ-カ-による方法で求めた。またヒルベルトの既約性定理の研究でそれが強近以定理と両立し得ることを証明した。
    またホッジ理論からの研究を行った今野は、第1チャ-ン類の自己交点数と幾何種数が一定の関係を持つ一般型の代数曲面の研究を行ない、その分類と変形について調べた。またある種の均質代数多様体の超曲面についてトレリの問題が弱い形で成り立たない場合を完全に分類した。
    本研究のその他の分担者もそれぞれの方面から研究を行ない色々な成果を得ている。
