In this study, participants (229 students) responded to a questionnaire on how they express and are expressed anger. Results indicated that the anger expression caused by “broken promise and betrayal” occurred more often in the intimate relationship than in the estranged relationship. It was also suggested that the anger expression caused by “broken promise and betrayal” tended to be evaluated more justifiable, and had more positive interpersonal effects. Therefore, it could be said that the prior promise has important implication for the social function of anger expression.

In this study, we asked participants (229 students, 87 male and 142 female) to describe experiences both in which they expressed anger to someone and in which someone expressed anger to them, and examined whether there were differences between expressing and expressed positions in the determinants of the interpersonal effects of anger expression. The results showed that, while the justice evaluation of anger expression by persons who expressed anger did not exert any influence on interpersonal effects, the justice evaluation of those who were expressed anger to had statistically significant influences on interpersonal effects. We suggested from this that the more justified the anger-expressed person evaluates the anger expression as, the more positive the interpersonal effects tend to become. It was also found that the strength and direction of the influences of expressing anger on interpersonal effects differed between anger-expressing and anger-expressed positions.

In this study, participants (623 students) were examined using two scenarios whether justifiability evaluation of anger expression would be affected by the differences in victim's position or perpetrator's position, the magnitude of damage, and perpetrator's responsibility. As a result, against the prediction, perpetrators tended to evaluate victim's anger expression as being more justifiable than victims. However, since the magnitude of damage and responsibility had significant influences on justifiability evaluation, and these influences were stronger in perpetrators than in victims, the other hypotheses were supported. Moreover, in the specific situation, it was suggested that expressing anger was evaluated as being more justifiable than suppressing anger.

The purpose of this research is to search for the influences of self-efficacy and outcome expectancy on aggressive behavior as anger expression and cognitive reappraisals. First, the subjects who participated in the experiment received negative evaluation of their characteristics from the confederate. Next, the experimenter prepared another experiment, in which the confederate was believed to receive an electric shock as a punishment of the failure in a task. After manipulating self-efficacy and outcome expectancy as independent variables, the anger expressive reaction and cognitive factors were measured. From the result, it was suggested that the aggressive behavior as anger expression was controlled by self-efficacy and outcome expectancy, which differed from the cognitive factors of anger evocation. Moreover, it was suggested that when the expression of anger was recognized to be difficult, the reappraisals of the evaluation to anger inhibition, and of the instigator's malicious intent arouse.

医師と患者間の効果的なコミュニケーションは、信頼関係の構築と健康アウトカムの改善に不可欠である。本研究では、患者の価値観を尊重し、協働的な意思決定を行う患者中心の医療に着目し、仮想の診察場面のシナリオを用いて、患者中心性に関する医師と患者の認識の違いを検討した。また、患者中心性とパーソナリティ特性（ビッグファイブおよびダークトライアド）、および患者の肯定的行動との関連も検討した。医師126名と患者129名がパーソナリティ特性について回答し、同一の診察場面のシナリオを読んだ上で、患者中心性の認識、その後の患者の肯定的行動について回答した。その結果、仮説に反して、患者中心性の認識に医師と患者間で有意な差はみられなかった。一方、当初の予測通り、患者中心性の認識が高いほど患者の肯定的行動が生じやすい傾向がみられた。また、神経症傾向は肯定的行動と負の関連がみられた。今後の研究では、非言語的情報を含む映像や音声による診察シナリオを用いた実験により、より臨場感のある認知評価と行動予測を可能にする手法の開発が期待される。

Participants in previous studies on the Dark Triad of personality (Machiavellianism, Psychopathy, and Narcissism) have been mainly college students or older. In the present study, participants were 799 high school students, and the purpose was to identify the factor structure of the Dark Triad and examine differences according to sex, school year, and career direction. Additionally, we investigated the relationship between the Dark Triad and help-seeking attitudes. The results were in line with previous evidence, as the hierarchical factor structure of the Dark Triad was identified. Furthermore, negative influences of Machiavellianism and Psychopathy on help-seeking attitudes were found. On the other hand, there was a positive influence of Narcissism on help-seeking attitudes.
Dark Triadとは，マキャベリアニズム，サイコパシー，自己愛傾向の3つの総称である。これまでのDark Triadに関する研究は，大学生以上を対象とした研究が主流である。本研究では，799名の高校生を対象に調査を実施し，Dark Triadの因子構造を確認するとともに，性別，学年，進路による差についても検討し，大学生以上を対象に行われた従来の研究の知見との比較を行うことを目的とした。また，合わせて援助要請との関連についても検討した。その結果，Dark Triadにおいては階層的な因子構造が高校生サンプルにおいても確認された。また，マキャベリアニズム，サイコパシーは援助要請に対してネガティブな関連がみられるのに対して，ナルシシズムはポジティブな関連がみられた。

This study explored the effects of age and gender on the mean levels of Big Five personality traits in Japanese adulthood. The data for the present study were drawn from a large cross-sectional study. The participants were 4,588 adults (2,476 women, <i>M</i> age＝53.5 years, <i>SD</i> age＝12.9, age range: 23–79 years), and the analyzed measure was a Japanese version of the Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI-J; Oshio, Abe, & Cutrone, 2012). Multiple regression analyses were carried out to determine the effects of age, gender, and the interaction between the two on each Big Five scale. Age differences were found suggesting that agreeableness and conscientiousness are positively associated with age. Gender differences were also found suggesting that females have higher levels of extraversion, while males are more open to experience. An Age×Sex effect was confirmed only on neuroticism, indicating that younger females' level of neuroticism is significantly higher than males, but older females' level is lower and is at the same level as males.

This study examined the influences of the distribution of worthwhileness and time in livelihood
domains on happiness. In addition, it was also examined the differences of the determinants of happiness
in each distribution pattern. Participants (1558 fulltime workers) completed the questionnaire. Results
showed that when the most worthwhile domain and the domain taken time most were the same,
especially when it was family domain, life satisfaction and happiness level tended to be high.
Furthermore, it was suggested that in each pattern, happiness level is related to harmonization among
domains.

In this study, participants (162 students) responded to a questionnaire in order to examine how people infer the motive, and evaluate the relationship to individuals who restrain emotional expression. Results indicated that the interpersonal effects of the restraint of positive emotional expression were greatly influenced by the receiver’s emotional state. On the other hand, the restraint of negative emotional expression caused the inference of the prosocial motive and the formation of the favorable impression when the receiver’s emotional state was positive. However, without any relation to the receiver’s emotional state, the restraint of negative emotional expression was likely to be considered “not lively”, which caused the negative evaluation of the relationship.

In this paper, previous studies about anger and anger expression are overviewed. They are divided into five approaches: (1) Evolutional, (2) Physical, (3) Drive-Behavioral, (4) Cognitive, and (5) Social Constructive. Following an examination of the definition of anger in each approach and showing the relations and differences between them, the direction of future studies on anger and anger expression is discussed.

In this study, participants were asked to answer both experiences that they expressed anger to someone and someone expressed anger to them, and were examined whether differences in the answer tendencies of anger experience would be found between expressive and expressed positions. As a result, when answering about anger expressive experience, participants tended to answer that the damage by provocation was more serious and more continuous, the responsibility belonged to the expressed person was greater, the damage by anger expression was smaller and more justified, and the experience ended more negative result than when answering about an expressed experience. These results suggested that the motivational tendencies of self-justification exist in both viewpoints of an anger expressive person and an expressed person.

医療現場においても怒りが生じることはあるが、患者が怒りをどのように表出し、医師はどのように対応しているか、そして怒りの正当性評価がこのプロセスにどのように関連しているかは明らかとなっていない。本研究の目的は、医療者と患者双方の怒りとその正当性評価を明らかにし、またそれぞれの立場や性格特性による差異を考慮した上で、その後の影響過程を新たに解明することである。令和5年度は研究Ⅰとして、医療者と患者双方を対象に質問紙調査を実施し、医療現場での怒りを引き起こす状況、またその後生じる行動の具体的な実態を検討した。ウェブ調査を専門とする調査会社で保有しているマスターサンプルから抽出された医師および通院歴のある成人、それぞれ約400名を対象として質問紙調査を実施した。その結果、医師が患者の怒りの表現が正当でないと判断した場合、医師は患者に対して怒りを感じ、不適切な言動を取りやすくなることが明らかとなった。その一方で、医師の不適切な態度やコミュニケーションは患者の怒りの主な原因であり、かつ、医師と患者の怒りの正当性に対する評価の相違を生じさせやすい原因でもあることが明らかとなった。したがって、こうした原因が医師と患者双方の怒りを増幅させ、悪循環を生む可能性が示唆された。これらの関連性は尺度評価得点に基づく量的な分析と、自由記述データの解析に基づく質的な分析の双方から確認された。令和6年度中に研究Ⅰのデータ分析および学会での成果発表を行うとともに、その成果を踏まえて研究Ⅱを実施する予定である。

The purpose of the present study was to find the evaluation dimensions of reprimanding, and to find relationships between personality traits and the way reprimanding is given and received. The results of a series of questionnaire survey revealed that three evaluation dimensions were commonly observed: relationship-oriented, punishment-oriented, and improvement-oriented. At the same time, the differences in the position of the senders and receivers of reprimand, as well as the personality traits of both parties, influenced the evaluation of reprimanding, as in the case of mothers who thought they were reprimanding positively, but their children tended to perceive it negatively. The results also indicated that, in general, relationship-oriented and improvement-oriented reprimanding tended to lead to positive interpersonal influences, while punishment oriented reprimanding tended to lead to negative interpersonal influences.

The purpose of this study was to find the inhibition factors of narcissistic interpersonal conflicts. Study1 examined the effects of narcissism and humor coping on anger expression in marital relations. The results showed that the opponent's frequency of anger expression was positively correlated with the frequency of anger, which in turn was negatively correlated with marital satisfaction. In addition, while husbands and wives with high narcissism were likely to express their anger, humor coping was negatively correlated with anger expression. These results suggest the effectiveness of humor coping in marital conflicts. In study2, an easy training to obtain humor coping was conducted. The results showed that the humor training was slightly effective.
