専門は西洋近現代史、観光学（観光史）で、地域としては中央ヨーロッパ（ドイツ語圏）、とくにスイスが研究対象です。これまで、おもに以下の二つの領域で研究を進めてきました。第一に、近代国家スイスの統合要因をナショナリズムとの関連で考察すること。第二に、19～20世紀のドイツ語圏諸国における観光の大衆化と、それがもたらした政治・社会・文化的な影響について、同時代の国際関係も視野に入れつつ検討することです。後者については、1930～50年代のスイス観光業に焦点を当てて研究しています。

The Great Depression and the Second World War forced German-speaking countries, which had the Alps region as a major sightseeing area, to reconstruct the tourism promotion from the 1930s to the 1950s. This research project attempted to investigate the historical significance of the new tourism policy from two perspectives: the making of tourism studies and the response to mass tourism. It explained why the tourism studies in Switzerland during the war were systematized, and how scholars planed a new tourism policy, looking beyond the Post-war situations.

・週に一度オフィスアワーを設定し、学生からの質問・相談に対応している。オフィスアワー以外の時間帯にも学生の要望に応じて面談をおこなっている。（2019年度～現在）
・授業外の学生の学習を支援するため、関大LMSを活用している。具体的には、配布資料の掲載や研究の助言等の諸連絡に活用している。（2019年度～現在）
・「世界史専修ゼミ6」を受講した学生の卒業論文集を作成し、次年度以降の受講生の参考になるよう、閲覧に供している（2019年度～現在）
・大学生向けの世界史教科書、大阪大学歴史教育研究会編『市民のための世界史』（大阪大学出版会、2014年4月）の作成に編集協力者として参加した。
・ドイツ史の入門テキスト、南直人ほか編著『はじめて学ぶドイツの歴史と文化』（ミネルヴァ書房、2020年11月）に寄稿した（第11章）。
・石田勇治（編集代表）『ドイツ文化事典』（丸善出版、2020年10月）に項目「スイス・アルプスをめぐる歴史―『通路』から『目的地』へ」を寄稿した。
・西洋史の概説書、上田耕造・入江幸二・比佐篤編著『西洋史の扉をひらく―通史とテーマでたどる古代から現代』（晃洋書房、2023年4月）に寄稿した（第8章通史、テーマ史3、第9章通史）。
・大阪大学歴史教育研究会第103回例会にて、大学生向けの西洋史教科書である、南塚信吾・秋田茂・高澤紀恵（責任編集）『新しく学ぶ西洋の歴史―アジアから考える』（ミネルヴァ書房、2016年） の合評会にコメンテーターの一人として参加した（2017年3月18日）。
・以下の調査報告を執筆した。森本慶太「アニメ作品を素材にした大学初年次向け歴史教育の試み―関西大学文学部「知へのパスポート」の授業経験から―」次世代歴史教育研究会『次世代の歴史教育の在り方に関する調査研究 中間報告書』2020年1月、36-44頁。
・歴史教育をめぐる高大連携組織「大阪大学歴史教育研究会」の事務局を担当した。（2013～2014年度）
・竹中亨氏（独立行政法人大学改革支援・学位授与機構教授）らを中心とする「次世代歴史教育研究会」の活動に参加し、学習者の視点に立った「学習成果=コンピテンス」という観点から大学の歴史教育のあり方についての共同研究を進めた。（2016～2019年度）
・サマーキャンパス（千里山）学部別イベント（文学部）ミニ講義（世界史専修）を担当。（2019年8月4日）
・課外活動として、学部生・大学院生の有志による歴史書の読書会を運営し、研究面での助言を行っている。（2019年度、2022年度～現在）
