Unconscious Biases Affect Women and Mothers

The purpose of this study is to sketch unconscious biases that affect women and mothers. As a result of this study, the following points become clear: (1) Unconscious biases also inform social norms and roles in women's dress and makeup. Women accept them unconsciously. (2) The unconscious bias that "childcare is the responsibility of women" is still strong today. Therefore, mothers tend to feel guilt about their children. Mothers also hesitate to leave their children at daycare as a rest for themselves. (3) The unconscious bias that "childcareis the responsibility of women" causes various forms of maternal guilt. However, previous studies have not shown that mothers who work have a negative effect on their children's development. These unconscious biases have been created by the social environment and culture and have an impact on the formation of our values and stereotypes. We need to think about the issues that women and mothers face by recognizing our unconscious biases.

A Female's Makeup Acts as a Narrative: Dialogical Topos and Addresses Reviewed

This study investigated how makeup acts by using a narrative approach, especially focusing on the topos and dialogicality. Interviews were conducted with four women involved in beauty work (age 23–61), which modeled the linkage between the topos and the process of makeup. First, the differentiation of topos as addressee and the process of makeup were modeled from their narratives. Second, we modeled the topos that became the addressee, using the Life Rings Model (Yamada & Yamada, 2009). The results showed that the makeup process and the topos as addressee are constructed multiplexly in the compound relations between the actor and another person. The meanings of the makeup acts are organized, based on individual experience and transformed in one's developmental process. This study provides a new suggestion for the study of makeup, that an important role of makeup is to transform the state of oneself.

This study was designed to elucidate the processes and dynamics underlying the application of cosmetics by women.
I conducted semi-structured interviews with nine Japanese women who do and do not use makeup. By applying the
Trajectory and Equifinality Model (TEM) to the interview data, I constructed a model of the chronological order makeup acts generated and analysed the influence of society/culture on personal choices. The analyses revealed that
women experience two stages ([passive makeup] [voluntary makeup]) in their relationship with cosmetics and that
these serve as cues for different cultural situations. These steps also cause "self-reflection about the value and
meaning of makeup" and transform a newly acquired habit into a cultivated acts.

The aim of this paper is to review the research of the act of dressing and to find the possibility of future research. First, I reviewed previous researches in the past review of psychological study. Second, I discussed the "addressee" in the context of the act and the place. After that, I pointed out the possibility of the notion of the Dialogical Self Theory Hermans Kempen, 1993. By using this we could see the relationship in the context of the act and the place after for a dressing act. From this position, the dynamics of the act to be dressed affects the person's way of life, I arrest a meaning received persistently and can still clarify it about the influence of mind
the culture about the relations of the act to be dressed by a person.

Makeup behavior is an act to make intentional processing on a body mainly on the face. It is important for self and communication with the other person. Above all, the particularly psychological role is extremely big. In such meaning, makeup behavior is narrative. The aim of this thesis is to review the research of makeup behavior and to find the possibility of future research. Firstly, I reviewed the former makeup researches in the field of psychological study. Second. I discussed the social role of makeup behavior in personal interaction. After that, I pointed out the need for research about how the self and the other are generate the makeup behavior. Therefore I quoted the dialogue theory of Bakhtin and his concept of the "addressee." To understand makeup behavior more deeply, it is important to clarify the interactive relationship between self and -other. It is thought that these concepts help to find the self-other interaction of a particular "addressee" from the view-point of makeup behavior and the psychological transformation that goes with it.
