ソーシャルワークの社会学的再検討による教育・実践理論の構築をめざす本研究において、当該年度は、それらを基礎づけるシカゴ学派の理論的・方法論的考察に重点を置いて研究を進めた。その成果の一部が、単著『初期シカゴ学派の人間生態学の展開――総合的社会認識の社会学』（関西大学出版部）である。同書においては、初期シカゴ学派の人間生態学に関する文献を検討し、総合的社会認識の社会学の視点を引き出すことを目的とした。シカゴ社会学史においては、社会学と福祉とが分離していった歴史があるが、激動の社会状況における問題把握や社会的コントロールの方法を探る方法は、福祉実践にとっても資するものであると考えられる。同書においては、さまざまな二分法を扱ったが、とくに、社会認識や調査における「量的調査と質的調査」、および「時間と空間」の二分法を総合する可能性に着目した。クリティカルな二元結合（異元結合）の視点を有した人間生態学は、問題の要因を的確にかつ多面的にとらえることができ、福祉教育・実践異論の構築のためのインプリケーションに富んでいる。これまでのシカゴ学派のイメージに反して、人間生態学には、科学や人間性と結びついた政策的含意、つまり社会を望ましい方向へ導こうとする意味が含まれていた。つまり、人間生態学は、狭い意味での社会学の理論というだけでなく、社会調査や社会福祉に開かれた「社会学的想像力」の展開を可能にしてくれる道具となることを示した。現代の混沌とする社会にはびこる社会問題の要素還元主義や社会的排除の潮流に抗する視点として再び注目する価値のあるものとして考察し、福祉実践理論の土台を形作った。

This study organizes various social activism combating poverty in Japan into 1. Network series, 2. Grass-rooted Solidarity Economy series, 3. Green /Earth series, 4. Social series. This study examines the individual and social resilience (power of reorganizing human lives and societies flexibly) from the perspective of social ecology. This study realizes the possibilities of social work and the method of its education for construction of welfare society.

It is certain that many activities combating poverty are being broadened all over Japan. However not only the theme and purposes but also the emerging individual/social resilience are very different for each activity. “Ideal types” of activities combating poverty in Japan are as follows, ①”Network”series (volunteer-oriented----close to the needy), ②”Grass-rooted solidarity economy”series (business-oriented----close to the needy), ③”Green/Earth”series (volunteer-oriented----far from the needy), ④”Social”series (business-oriented----far from the needy).

Through an investigation into poverty and anti-poverty activities in contemporary Japan, I discussed their impact of on social resilience. As a methodology, I pursued the idea of a"synthesizing approach", which is derived from the early Chicago School of Sociology, in order to support the discussion theoretically and methodologically. In conclusion, I derived some propositions, such as"Flexible role relationships have the possibility to enhance social resilience".
