本研究の目的は、現代日本語の地域的多様性がどのようにして生じたのかを、歴史的言語変種と地域的言語変種にみられる文法項目の対照研究を通じて明らかにすることである。本研究課題に取り組むのは、これまで『全国方言文法辞典』作成のための共同研究に取り組んできた方言文法研究会のメンバーである。2021年度の主な研究成果を以下に挙げる。
1.研究成果報告書『全国方言文法辞典資料集(7)活用体系(5)』を刊行した。要地方言の活用体系記述として、北海道北見市常呂町岐阜方言、滋賀県湖東方言、愛媛県大洲方言、福岡県柳川市方言の記述を収録した。また、基本例文50要地方言訳として、福井県永平寺町方言、山梨県甲府市方言、山梨県南巨摩郡早川町奈良田方言、岐阜県岐阜市方言、岡山県新見市方言、山口県熊毛郡田布施町方言、福岡県福岡市方言、沖縄県国頭郡大宜味村津波方言の記述を収録した。
2.ウェブサイト「方言文法研究会2022サイト」を公開した。方言文法研究会提供のデータベースポータルサイトとして新規構築したもので、全国方言文法資料集、要地方言活用体系記述、日本列島方言区画図、基本例文50要地方言訳データベース（検索機能付）、『方言文法全国地図』略図集を閲覧・利用することができる。また、このサイト内で雑誌『方言』（1931～1938年、春陽堂）の目次一覧と著者没後70年超えの論文・記事のPDFデータを公開した。こうした既存の方言文献資料の整備・公開も本研究の課題の一つと位置づけている。
3.方言文法研究会2022年第1回研究例会（2022年3月28日、オンライン）を開催した。今後の発展的な研究課題の発掘と研究手法の共有のために、ワークショップ「文法現象からみる方言類型―ノダと関連表現を中心に―」、チュートリアル「Illustratorを使用した言語地図作成入門」、方言昔話研究班活動報告を行った。 -

At eight universities in the Tokyo area, as well as the Kanto, Kansai, Oita, and Tohoku regions, role play conversations in which the participating university students switched roles were recorded. The scenes used were “participant notifies partner that they will be late” and “participant complains of lateness to partner.” Partners who were good friends and of the same sex were paired together and conducted the conversations over the phone. After processing for personal information was completed, the voice data and transcript data for pairs from the same region were published as language data on a website as a “Dialect Roleplay Conversation Database” that can be used in research and education.

The following two points were implemented in this study.
(1)Discourse audio data of dialects from various regions of Japan were compiled. Based on this data, the Corpus of Japanese Dialects (COJADS) was created and released to the public, enabling cross-dialectal searches of various dialects. COJADS is based on the discourse data from the "Emergency Survey of Local Dialects" conducted by the Agency for Cultural Affairs from 1977 to 1985. It is designed to be searched with "Chunagon," a search application developed by the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL).
(2)Using COJADS, "Study of Regional Differences in Subject and Object Marking Forms in Various Japanese Dialects" and "Study of Regional Differences in the Usage of the Polite Form ‘desu’" were conducted, providing examples of data-based dialect research. -

The main study during this research period was to investigate the inflectional paradigm of predicates in Japanese dialects, which is a part of process to build a dictionary of Japanese dialect grammar that contributes to the comprehensive description from the geographical and historical point of views. The three volumes of report on inflectional paradigm have been published in this period, and the reports cover 38 dialects in main lands and 4 dialects in Ryukyu islands in total, including those published in the previous period.
In addition, the research workshop was held once in a year on the theme of grammatical descriptions of dialects and contrastive studies of Japanese variations. Those workshops aimed to establish a framework that comprehensively describes geographical variations and historical changes in Japanese grammar, and to construct a methodology of the contrastive/comparative study in diachronic and synchronic variations in Japanese. -

With respect to modern language "so-called formal words and morphemes", we dig into the individual form of semantic usage such as multiple compound phrases in more detail and do case studies of formal words and developmental processes in Japanese dialects, and historically also describe the process of obtaining formal usage in several individual formats, and that the formal words is supposed to support various expressiveness of Japanese, verified each from the synchronic, diachronic, and dialectical aspect. At the same time, we proposed a new perspective to consider formal words synchronously.

We have collected data on role-play conversations in various Japanese dialects. The speaker groups were diversely composed in terms of generation (older/younger), gender (men/women), and hierarchical relationships (senior/peer/junior), and were recorded as they enacted different situations (complaint/request/consolation/persuasion/taking attendance/proposition). By focusing on the contents of speech, approaches to appealing to the other party, and communication strategies, the study analyzes the discourse structure and development of dialectal conversations from the standpoints of regional, generational, gender, situational, and media differences. The purpose of this study is to construct a corpus of Japanese dialects in which various dialects are searchable in the same manner, and to offer new methods for research on dialects using the corpus. First, we examined methods of how to organize the data, using data of dialects from six regions. We figured out that it is effective to construct a corpus where texts of dialects and their translation in standard Japanese are displayed in parallel and also texts and sounds of dialects are searchable in standard Japanese. Second, we built a trial version of the corpus of Japanese dialect, which contains dialect data from 27 regions, and then conducted an analysis of uses of case particles in the corpus. Based on the findings from the analysis, we presented a new analysis of dialects with reference to contexts, and thus, we claim that such a corpus-based study will advance the research on dialects further.

We researched on whole Japan, Ina-Suwa region, Oigawa-basin and Jintsugawa-bsin with geolinguistic purpose. We clarified the formation process of dialects with comparing the contemporary distributions of dialects to the past maps.
We reached the conclusions that dialectal distributions formed with filling the areas, and after finishing to fill the area the distributions had fixed. This process we had gotten is different from the traditional theory which has thought the formation processes of dialectal distributions are continuous. The results of researches and analyses are published as atlases and papers. -

In this study, we conducted three different surveys; the linguistic field survey on inflections and complex sentences, the research on folktale corpora of Japanese dialects, and the historical research on variations of inflections. A web-based system was constructed to accumulate and share data collected from research fields. Based on the surveys, we had two presentations on historical/geographical variations of Japanese inflectional morphology, and on geographical variations of conditionals in Japanese. We also contributed two publications, "Data book for the comprehensive dictionary of Japanese dialects grammar, volume 2, inflectional morphology" and "Guidebook for the linguistic field research on complex sentences in Japanese dialects".

the usages of some grammaticalized forms derived from the citation form "toyuu" and their process of changes in the Tohoku dialects.
By this research a part of the process in which the variations of the grammatical systems was produced became clear. -

The aim of this research is to describe the grammatical forms of Japanese dialects in the unified procedures and compile a dictionary to show the whole phenomena of Japanese grammar. We selected some crucial dialects which have distinctive characteristics in reason expressions, conducted field surveys by using the unified common list, and gave accounts of each form. The result of the research was published in book form, "Grammar Dictionary of Japanese Dialects (1) : Reason Expressions", and also, we started up the web site to open it of the research to the public.

Geographical and Historical Study of Diffusion of New Dialects in the Japan Sea Coast

In this research, an integrated usage survey has been conducted in dialects on the Japan Sea Coast, by paying attention to geographical and generational dynamics. The "glottogram" technique, in which linguistic survey is conducted for each generation along a linear area, is a new technique originally developed by Japanese dialectology. This technique has been applied to Japan archipelago diagonally from Hokkaido to Kyushu until now. Dynamics of dialects on the Japan Sea Coast have been ascertained in this research.
In the fiscal year 2006, researchers conducted a field survey for the glottogram in the western area of Shiga prefecture and acquired the data as planned before. The researchers were members of this grant-in-aid. Another field survey of all residents in Yamazoe area in Yamagata prefecture has been conducted in winter 2008. A. questionnaire which had been used 15 and 30 years ago was used after simplification. 70% of residents cooperated.
In the fiscal year 2007, another field survey was conducted in Japan Sea Coast in Hokuriku District, and all the results of survey were input as computerized data. The data was then output as glottogram graphs. The result of all residents' survey in Yamazoe near Tsuruoka city was input in the computer and output as graphs. They were compared with graphs of the two surveys in the past, and a theoretical model of S-shaped curve of linguistic change was found to be applicable to this real time survey of linguistic change.
Three series of glottograms of Aomori-Akita, Eastern Japan Sea Coast, and Western Shiga Prefecture were published as a report in 2008. By this publication of research results, it has been ascertained that dialectal forms are still newly born and spreading in 21st century By applying a multivariate analysis great geographical differences and conspicuous age differences are detected. As a related study, a report of dialect survey of high-school students and their parents was published. -

The purpose of this research is to analyze the whole aspects of the conditional expressions in modern Japanese by means of investigating the important dialects and comparing or contrasting them, including the standard Japanese, each other as one field of contrastive researches on the grammatical sides of the dialects.

In the first fiscal year, researchers belonging to various institutions gathered together and discussed methods for unification of techniques of investigation. Preparatory surveys have been also conducted. Areas of survey for each participant were also decided.
In the second fiscal year, actual surveys were conducted along the Japan Sea coast in order to draw glottograms, researchers were participants of this research and graduate and postgraduate cooperators. The acquired data were electronically coded soon after the research. The data were distributed to researchers concerned.
In the third fiscal year, surveys were further conducted to cover all the planned research area. Glottograms were drawn by the participants. Figures were easily drawn making use of personal computers owned by each participant. New dialect forms and unnoticed dialect forms were found and noticeable geographical differences along the Japan Sea coast were ascertained. By comparing with former studies, differences from the Pacific Ocean coast were observed and patterns of diffusion from Tokyo were ascertained.
A report was published at the end of the year and was distributed among researchers who are interested in this kind of research. The related study will flourish because of this report. A part of the attested data was reported in an International Congress of Dialectology held in Canada -
『全国方言文法辞典』のための諸方言の文法に関する記述的研究

本年度は、上記の研究課題を達成するために、以下の調査・分析を行った。
(1)各地の方言模擬会話の作成と音声収録
『全国方言文法辞典』に掲載する資料として、各地方言に特徴的な文法的表現を盛り込んだ方言模擬会話を作成し、現地の話者に訂正をしてもらったうえで、実際に当該の会話を演じてもらい、音声を収録するという調査を行った。今年度、収録した方言と文法項目・話者は、以下の通りである。
(a)秋田県本荘方言
[文法項目]推量表現、原因・理由表現、依頼表現、勧誘表現、敬語
[話者]老年層(50〜60代)2名
(b)京都方言
[文法項目]動詞音便形・形容詞音便形・命令形、断定の助動詞、否定表現、可能表現、アスペクト表現、敬語
[話者]老年層(50〜60代)2名、若年層(20代前半)8名
収録した音声は、今後「ウェブ版全国方言文法辞典」を作成し掲載する予定である。なお(a)については、「本荘のことば」http://cube.ed.akita-u.ac.jp/staff/hidaka/KOTOBA/honjo/tokucho.htmに掲載してある。
(2)東北方言の文法形式の意味・用法の地域差に関する分析
平成15、16年度に実施した調査の結果を踏まえて、東北方言の方向・着点を表す格助詞サ、対象を表す格助詞コト・トコ、テンス形式テアッタ・タッタの意味・用法の地域差を分析した。その結果、これらの文法形式が、東北地方の日本海側の地域では意味・用法の拡張が進み、太平洋側では本来の意味・用法が維持される傾向があることが分かった。『全国方言文法辞典』は、こうした「文法化」の程度に地域差があることを踏まえた記述を行う必要がある。なお、今回の分析の結果は、「方言における文法化-東北方言の文法化の地域差をめぐって-」『日本語の研究』3巻1号に掲載されている。 -

The aims of this study are to analyse the concrete data of Japanese dialects, and theoretically generalize the changes of garammar.
Through the research following two points are cleared up.
1. Formation and the changing way of each grammatical elements of Japanese dialects.
2. General theory of changing mechanism of grammatical forms of Japanese dialects.
After ordering the preceding researches, analysing methods ware made up, we collected the concrete grammatical data of Japanese dialects thorough field works and Grammar Atlas of Japanese Dialects (GAJ).
We researched and analysed 1. application of the methods of geolinguistic way to grammatical fields, 2. analysis of grammaticalization of case markers, 3. analysys of grammaticalization of topical markers of Hokuriku dialects, 4. descriptions of final particles of Yarnagata dialects, 5. formation way of case markes in Tohoku dialects, 6. analysis of grammaticalization of conjunctions, 7. analysis of formations of potentials in Kyushu dialects, 8. analysis of past recollectives, 9. descriptions of final particles in Hokuriku dialects.
We generalized each individual dialectal datum and phenomenon, and made up the general theories of diachronic changes of grammar of Japanese dialects. -

本年度は、秋田県由利地方から山形県庄内地方、新潟県北部にかけての、いわゆる「由利庄内北越方言圏」の以下の地点において、文法化現象に関する調査を行った。

以上のうち、目的格助詞コト・トコに関する文法化の現象について、標準語の「のこと」の用法との比較において考察した「「のこと」とトコの文法化の方向性-標準語と方言の文法化現象の対照研究-」を研究論文として発表した。以下に概要を示す。
[論文の概要]
東北地方を中心に、目的語を表示する格助詞としてコト・トコ類の表現を用いる方言がある。このコト・トコ類の表現には、前接名詞が有情物に限られるという制約がある。この制約は、標準語の「のこと」の一部の用法が持っている制約と同じものであると考えられる。一方、秋田方言の目的語格助詞トコは、現在、次のような段階を踏んで用法の変化が進みつつある。1)目的語が有情物である場合に限って用いられていたものが、他動性の高い述語から始まって、目的語が非情物の場合にも用いられる汎用の格助詞へと変化する(老年層)。2)目的語を表す汎用の格助詞であったものが、他動性の低い述語から始まって、トコ自体の使用が失われていく(中・若年層)。標準語と方言の対照を通じて、名詞「こと」が方言において格助詞化していく過程と、方言で格助詞化した形式が標準語の浸透により用法を狭めていく過程に、文法化現象の段階的進行を観察することができる。 -
現代日本語の文法的バリエーションに関する基礎的研究

本年度は,今までの調査・分析結果に基づいて,さらに必要な調査を実施し,報告書を作成した。報告書では,用例採集調査と全国4地域での若年層アンケート調査に基づいた分析結果を述べた。以下,その概要である。
1)否定文のテンス表現(日高)
質問文の応答という文脈では「していない」が,適格とされる傾向があること,「まだ〜しない」は,意志的動作では適格性が低く,「発展→実現」の含意のある無意志的動作では適格性が上がることなどを指摘した。
2)様態の「そうだ」の否定(野田)
「そうにない」が衰退しつつあり,「な(さ)そうだ」の使用が増えていること,地域差があることを指摘した。
3)ていねい形の否定--「ません」と「ないです」--(野田)
「ないです」が勢力をのばしつつあることを明らかにし,終助詞の付加との関係などについても論じた。
4)二重否定の形式(野田)
二重否定は可能表現や存在表現に多く用いられること,「も」を含む例が多いこと,3つの型の間で,意味・性質の違いがあることを明らかにした。
5)「名詞+のこと」の適格性(日高)
「内面的属性」を表す「のこと」が,特定的な有情名詞に後接して,感情や動作の対象であることを強調的に示す機能を帯び,さらに,目的語を表す格助詞的な機能を獲得しつつあることを明らかにした。
6)文末詞「け」(日高)
「け」の使用の東西差が解消されてきていること,東西差が残っている用法もあることを明らかにした。
7)条件表現「すれば」「したら」「すると」(日高)
秋田では「すれば」,首都圏では「すると」,鹿児島では「したら」が多く選ばれることを明らかにした。
8)美化語「お」(野田)
美化語「お」の使用が全体的に少なくなってきていること,地域差があること,男女差が少なくなりつつあることを指摘した。 -

In this research we investigate and describe Japanese dialects grammar and there variations. Especially about modality, potential, kakarimusubi we make up the descriptive methods and the way how variations became.
The variations are in connection of diachronfc relationships. Japanese dialects conjugations have solid relation. We can provide the methods to analyze the historical relationships in conjugations.
We did field works, and after the real material.analysis are done. Then, we could made the way from gathering to analyzing the data of dialects grammar. We describe those ways as "Guide book about Japanese dialects grammar researching". -

日本の各地方言のダイクシス表現、特に授与動詞(「やる」「くれる」に当たる動詞)と敬語表現の比較・対照を行う本研究の成果を、以下に報告する。
本研究期間に、(1)秋田県大館市・鹿角市、(2)秋田県男鹿・八郎潟周辺地域、(3)岩手県盛岡市・花巻市、(4)福島県喜多方市、(5)茨城県水海道市、(6)熊本県熊本市において、老年層に対する面接調査と若年層(高校生、大学生)に対するアンケート調査を行った。
日本の東西の両端に位置する東北方言と九州方言は、ともに授与動詞が視点的な対立をなさないという共通の現象を持つが、現在、標準語との接触の中で、視点的対立を獲得する方向にある。その変化の過程には地域差があり、現在進行しつつある授与動詞の体系変化のパターンにおいて、日本の各地方言は次のように大別できる。
A)九州南西部方言:宮崎南部、鹿児島、熊本南部
B)北陸方言:奥能登(石川県)、五箇山・白川郷(富山県・岐阜県)
C)東日本方言:長野・静岡・北部伊豆諸島
今回の調査のねらいのひとつは、これまで調査を行っていなかった東北方言が、どのようなタイプを示すかを確認することであった。結果は、福島方言が典型的なCタイプの傾向を示したのに対し、秋田・岩手方言では、BタイプとCタイプに分化する前段階的な現象が多く認められた。各地で同時進行的に生じている言語変化のパターンにおいて、連続的な地理的分布相を確認し得たことは、言語地理学の新しい方向性を示す試みと考えている。今後、研究成果の公開に向けて、まとめの作業に取り組みたい。

Devising educational methods

学部の全学共通科目（方言学入門）では、以下の方法によって、学習者の積極的な授業参加を促している。
(1)画像・動画・音声を盛り込んだパワーポイントによるプレゼンテーション。
(2)出席確認と併せてことばアンケート（方言使用に関するアンケート）を実施し、集計結果を授業の中で分析。
(3)設定した3つの到達目標ごとに対応する課題を出し、その達成度によって評価。
学部の専修専門科目では、以下の方法によって、学習者の積極的な授業参加を促している。
(1)2人1組で論文紹介、4～5人1組で研究発表を行う。
(2)授業中の課題や発表課題に関するグループごとの検討の時間を授業内に設ける。
(3)パソコンを活用した言語データの収集・分析、アンケートの集計・分析の実習を行う。
また、4年次の卒論指導、大学院での修論・博論指導では、通常の演習の授業以外に、個別面談を定期的に行い、綿密な指導を心掛けている。
