The purpose of our research was to seek for the possibility of systematization of Consumer Law. For this purpose, we have examined the new developments of EU Consumer Law concerning its harmonization and then examined the structure and the contents of Consumer Material Law and Procedural Law related to the realization of consumer rights, from the viewpoint of the systematization of Consumer Law.
With regard to the above, we have focused especially on (1) Consumer Rights Directive, (2) New EU Rules towards the single Digital Market and (3) Consumer Group Litigation System, and analyzed them.
Based on this analysis, we have discussed the core points for the systematization and effectiveness of Consumer Law. -

For the Development of European Private Law, we proceeded to work in the light of the results of relevant previous studies. Among other things, make the active exchange with foreign researchers, at the same time, we examined and translated the material basic law model of European private law, which will be model for the proposal to the revision of the (law of obligations) of the Civil Code of Japan. We also participated in the study group and the International Conference of Comparative Law. To deepen the international exchange multifaceted, we collected information about the European private law. At that time, we have provided foreign researchers the information of Japanese law in a foreign language. We have published the book “ Perspectives of European Private Law and Modernization of Japanese Civil Code“

This research project aims to analyze the new development of the Harmonization of EU Consumer Law and to pursue the ideal situation of the consumer material law and procedural law for the effective enforcement of the consumers' right, with the viewpoint of system and construction of the consumer law.
For this purposes, the research team has analyzed especially (1) Consumer Right Directive, (2) the Proposal of the Common European Sales Law, (3) Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, (4) the scheme to promote the access to Justice: Organization litigation or Class action for the consumers. The team has also examined the discussion in the European countries on the systematization of Consumer Law. -

In accordance with the plan of our project, we have researched on the meaning and effects of the modernization of German Contract Law und have collected the necessary literature for this. We have especially focused on the changes of German Contract Law through the implementation of the EU Consumer Rights Directive in Germany. We also have examined the development of the German Unfair Completion Law and its influence to Contract Law. Further, we have conducted a comparative analysis on the influence of these developments on Japanese Contract Law. Part of our research results are included in the book “Perspectives of European Private Law and Modernization of Japanese Civil Code” (Nihonhyoron-sha, 2016).

For the Development of European Private Law, we proceeded to work in the light of the results of relevant previous studies. Among other things, make the active exchange with foreign researchers, at the same time, we examined the material basic law model of European private law, such as the proposal for the revision of the (law of obligations) of the Civil Code of Japan.To perform basic research of Common European Framework of Reference on (DCFR), we translated these provisions at the same time. We also participated in the study group and the International Conference of Comparative Law. To deepen the international exchange multifaceted, we collected information about the European private law. At that time, we have provided foreign researchers the information of Japanese law in a foreign language. We have published the completed translation of the DCFR in 2013. Papers related to the recent amendment to the Japanese Civil Code have been also published.

This research's goal is to follow the developments in European Consumer and Consumer Contract Law. In relation to this the recent forms of ideal Consumer and Consumer Contract Law for Japan shall be pointed out.
The research will analyze concrete problems concerning Consumer Law, Consumer Contract Law and Advertisement Law, whom Japan and Europe are facing and publish it as an essay. By exchange between experts from within and outside of Japan the problems got identified from several angles and the content deepended. As a result it was possible to confirm a big influence of consumer-related issues on the whole area of Private Law in Europe. Furthermore some important indications for the reform-works on the law of obligations and especially the reform discussions on the modernisation of Contract Law in Japan were gained. -

This research's goal is to follow the development in European and EU private law, and Japanese contract law and tort law in Japan. Additionally, it is to get a result for the reform-works on the law of obligations and the reform discussion on the modernization ofJapanese private laws, based on previous studies.
This research would concretely analyze the trend of private laws in EU plane and the modernization of private laws on European countries in relation to Japanese law, and published the result as some articles. Especially by exchange between experts from within and outside of Japan we could clear the current of this problem from several angles and then concretize the issues of it. It was very meaningful to deepen our knowledge and understanding of it.
As results of this research it was identified that the trend of harmonization and unification on European private law is enlarged not only to contract law area, but also to the whole private law. By this research also some important indications for the reform-works on the Japanese law of obligations were gained. -

講義では、配付物（レジュメ・資料）を最小限にとどめて、口述内容、板書、教材提示装置を用いて投影する図式等を受講生が自力でノートにまとめるよう求めている。また、授業時間を確保し無駄な労力を省くため、インフォメーションシステムを積極的に活用している（具体的には、レジュメ・資料の配布、課題の提出、定期試験の採点基準・講評の配布などに用いている）。
演習では、他大学ゼミとの討論会を通じて、議論する力を高めることを目指している。
