    <p>It is quite simple for most residents to understand the knowledge of disaster prevention. However, people sometimes fail to apply such knowledge to take appropriate action, which is often referred to as knowledge-to-action gap. We advocate it is important for learners to have simulated experiences of dangerous situations as results of their intentional unsafe evacuation behaviors to resolve the gap. Because unsafe evacuation behaviors are likely to be taken as attempts to achieve an objective other than the ones with higher priority to ensure their own safety. In this study, we propose a learning support method to induce unsafe evacuation behaviors by exposing an objective to be achieved other than the primary safety. Evaluation of the developed prototype based on this method shows that our proposed method makes learners experience simulated dangerous situations through unsafe evacuation behavior, and experiencing a simulated hazard facilitated forming the intention of safe evacuation behavior.</p>

    It is not difficult for residents, for the most cases, to know the knowledge of disasterprevention, while it is quite difficult for them to take appropriate evacuation behavior.For example, it is easy to know why flooded underpasses should not be gone through bycars. It is just because cars would be submerged and got stuck on the way. However,people sometimes fail to apply such knowledge to take an appropriate action, due tothe so-called knowledge-to-action gap. In the present study, a preliminary investiga-tion and two experiments were conducted. The purpose of the investigation is to clarifythe kinds of unsafe evacuation behavior with reference to newspaper articles on flooddisaster over the past 15 years. The two experiments are to examine if the knowledge-to-action gap can be confirmed by means of paper-and-pencil tests consisting of knowledgeand intention tasks. Preliminary investigation revealed ten kinds of unsafe evacuationbehaviors in flood disaster. Experiments 1 and 2 indicated that participants take unsafeevacuation behaviors even though they have appropriate knowledge. In addition, theexperiment 2 indicated that they perceived danger in unsafe evacuation behaviors andflood disaster situation.These results demonstrate an aspect of unsafe evacuation be-havior, and the importance of disaster prevention education, which has to be carefullydesigned to bridge the gap between knowledge and action for disaster prevention.

    Usability inspection methods do not require the availability of either real users or working prototypes. However, the inspection methods are often not easy to be conducted due to the shortage of design professionals with practical skills in usability evaluation. In this study, preliminary evaluations were conducted with two inspection methods with participation of university students as beginners of evaluation. Taking account of findings from the evaluation sessions, we extend inspection methods by introducing two evaluation forms for inexperienced evaluators. One is to clarify target-users profile of nine attributes. Another is to visualize a task sequence by putting printed screen copies of task steps up wall surface. Finally, the extended inspection methods are applied to the evaluation of a mobile phone, and the advantages and limitations of the proposed ideas are discussed.

    The cognitive walkthrough (CW) is a usability inspection method where analysts are asked to simulate the user's cognitive behavior and answer a series of evaluation questions for each step of a task.Negative answers indicate that such steps will be difficult to learn and thus likely to cause usability problems.The CW underwent a series of modifications to improve its applicability to real-world development processes.The current version, much simplified from its predecessors, has now only four evaluation questions.These questions, however, seem to be so abstract that they are difficult to answer properly unless one has expertise in cognitive science and/or usability evaluation.In this paper we propose a modified CW method whose evaluation questions are formulated based on an extended model of human-computer interaction that explicitly distinguishes between object and action, and perceiving and understanding.Applied to Web usability evaluation, the modified CW was shown to be more effective in identifying usability problems while remaining as efficient as the current CW.

    There have been various disaster prevention learning methods based on gaming, such as simulation games and card games, to help acquire the knowledge of disaster prevention. Evacuation behaviors include mutually related unsafe and safe behaviors, and such behaviors are needed to be understood as pairs because it is often difficult to guess one type of safe or unsafe behavior from another type. For example, if knowing the danger of wearing rain boots during flooding as unsafe behavior, it is not easy to guess how to behave in such situation to ensure safety. Therefore, it is important to understand the relations between unsafe and safe behaviors so that evacuation behavior can be acquired as practical knowledge. In this study, we propose a disaster prevention learning method that employs a traditional Japanese card game called Karuta game in order to facilitate understanding the relations between unsafe and safe behaviors. Karuta games consist of two types of cards: reading cards and grabbing cards. The reading cards are given with phrases on unsafe and safe behaviors respectively in the upper and lower words, and each grabbing card is depicted with a scene of taking safe behavior. In this way, disaster prevention knowledge is represented in the contents of Karuta game, taking the relations between unsafe and safe behaviors into account. Karuta game is played by two or more players with the help of a reciter, and the reciter randomly takes a reading card from the deck and reads it aloud. The players race to grab or touch a grabbing card that matches the meaning of the reading card. As a preliminary evaluation of the Karuta game, we conducted user observation in an evacuation drill in cooperation with elementary school children. As results, it was observed that children payed attention to the differences between unsafe and safe behaviors, and their accompanied guardians also understood the idea of unsafe behaviors.

    The purpose of this research is to encourage a visitor of zoo to deepen their knowledge of animals by facilitating autonomic obserbation while walking around the zoo. In general, the primary role of social educational facilities such as zoo is to offer learning opportunities to visitors. However, particularly at zoo, the role is diminished and it tends to be recognized as entertainment facilities. We assume that ingenuity on presenting information of animals to encourage visitors' active learning is insufficient. In order to improve the problem, this paper proposes a mobile application that users can spontaneously observe animals and get knowledge of the animals while going around in the zoo. The application has fourfunctions: (1) providing a quiz, (2) providing catch phrases, (3) navigating in the zoo, and (4) surveying animals' biology. Experimental results suggested that the application facilitates more detailed observation, and that the participant's behavior is spreading throughout the zoo.

    Usability testing with prototypes is typically conducted with a concurrent think-aloud protocol. Due to the simultaneous process of prototype operation and verbalization, participants of the think-aloud testing sometimes say very little and are likely to become silent when they are required to think abstractly or complete complex tasks. In this paper, we propose a method of user operation with oral instruction, which facilitates thinking aloud because oral operation would help participants to keep a continuous flow of verbalization. To investigate the quantity and quality of utterances made during think aloud protocols, we conducted a comparative study between oral and conventional manual operation methods. The study was carried out with two test objects: an interactive prototype of a touch-screen digital camera and photo album software with standard mouse/keyboard user interface. Our results demonstrated that the oral operation method was more effective in drawing more utterances for explanation and observation that would be an important source of discovering usability problems although the effect was dependent on the user interface of test objects.

    The number of school children having ties overseas is on the rise year after year in Japan. In order to support these children and their parents, we developed a multilingual school document portal site, and made it open to the public. The portal site allows easy-to-use document retrieval by faceted classification as well as keyword search. However, it is not necessarily easy for the users to express their information needs in query terms, and they often come up with poor results from short and generic query terms. In pursuit of the formulation of better query statements with a few search terms even in the initial query, we realized a dynamic term suggestion or auto-suggest interface in the portal site. In the auto-suggest interface, suggested terms are ranked according to domain relevance, rather than merely on the basis of term occurrence frequency in the document collection. In this paper, we explain an overview of the school document portal site, the auto-suggest interface realized in the portal, and the domain-dependent term-weighting scheme, followed by the results of a user study conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the auto-suggest function.

    This paper addresses the importance of cognitive accessibility and cognitive usability as critical requirements for universal design of information. Information should not be said to be accessed unless its content is cognitively internalized or understood by the user. Accessibility of information, therefore, should be evaluated not only for its perceivability but also for its understandability. We proposed a new cognitive walkthrough (CW) method whose CW questions were formulated based on an extended HCI model that distinguishes between perceiving and understanding. Applied to a Web design evaluation study, the extended CW was shown to be more effective in identifying accessibility and usability problems while remaining as efficient as the currently-practiced CW.

    Web application development using an MVC-based Web application model improves efficiency and reusability when restructuring an existing Web application. However it is difficult to clarify the whole behavior of a Web application only with analysis of the server-side resources.We propose a method for eliciting an MVC-based Web application model clarifying the behavior of the application by using dynamic analysis focusing on the HTTP information exchanges. We experimented with eliciting models from actual Web applications. The results show that it is possible to elicit models that express the behavior of Web applications by using the proposed method.

    Web annotation is crucial for providing machine-understandable descriptions of Web resources, and has a number of applications such as discovery, qualification, and adaptation of Web documents. While annotations are often embedded into a Web document, annotations can be associated externally by means of addressing expressions represented with the XPath language. However, creation of external annotation solely with a conventional editor is not easy because annotation authoring involves the maintenance and elaboration of addressing expressions as well as annotation contents. In addition, there has been little empirical study of robust pointing by XPath expressions, in spite of the increasing prevalence of the XPath language for use in emerging content adaptation systems. This paper proposes a classification of annotation tool design, taking account of differences in authoring methods and roles of annotation. On the basis of the classification, tools for generating external annotations are briefly explained along with applications of Web document adaptation for small-screen devices and portal site development. Robustness of the addressing expressions is then investigated, and practical implications to the reliable use of external annotation are drawn from empirical evaluation with evolving real-life Web documents. © 2004 Elsevier B.V.     This paper proposes Web Application Descriptor for modeling dynamic Web applications, and presents a prototype of Web Application Development Support Tool Workbench, which is an environment for developing Web applications based on the Web Application Descriptor model. The Web Application Descriptor is to specify a navigational structure of Web applications, and prescribe the behavior of Web applications in terms of logical pages and actions used for directing the page flow. Web Application Descriptor allows modeling such page navigation flow at a description level independent of neither view contents nor runtime application framework, so that it can be exploited for the conceptual design and execution of Web applications.

    In spite of the increasing prevalence of XPath language including its use with XSLT little attention has been paid to empirical study of robust pointing by XPath expressions. The goal of this study is to draw practical implications of the robustness of XPath expressions, taking account of the four kinds of real-life HTML pages. For each DOM node in the sample pages, we created three types of XPath expressions, and investigated to what extent those expressions were able to continue pointing at the same node in the modified pages during the observation period of four months.
    The types of XPath expressions we used for the investigation include not only absolute expressions that simply follow the hierarchy of a document tree from the root to the target element, but also relative expressions that point to a target element in relation to some stable anchor position. As anchor nodes for the relative addressing expressions, we used elements with an href attribute, because a URL assigned to an href value should not be change too often, and so an href reference should be relatively stable as a semantic descriptor
    In this paper, we briefly introduce an XPath authoring support for an annotation editor and explain the types of XPath expressions. An empirical evaluation of the XPath expressions is then presented. Finally, we discuss the advantages and limitations of the XPath expressions, taking account of the actual page modifications, and investigate possibilities for further improvement of the addressing method.

    XSLT plays an important role in data conversions between different XML representations. However, besides the transformations between XML data representations, conversion to an HTML document is one of the most practical tasks for XSLT, because it allows XML documents to be rendered in a human-readable form using Web browsers. We have developed XSLbyDemo, which is an XSLT stylesheet generation module to be plugged into a commercially available full-fledged HTML authoring tool. The remarkable feature of XSLbyDemo is that users can create an XSLT stylesheet automatically solely on the basis of their knowledge of HTML editing. We briefly explain situations where stylesheets for XML rendering are needed. We then introduce the rule generation method based on the users' operation history recorded behind the WYSIWYG editor, and in particular explain the ways of generalizing the created rules so that the obtained rules can be applied to other documents slightly different from the original one. Finally, we give a practical example of the rules generation by XSLbyDemo, and demonstrate that our method can be used for not only the conversion but also the partitioning of a real-life HTML document into smaller pages represented with Compact HTML to be rendered on Web-enabled cellular phones such as i-mode phones.

    Users are increasingly accessing the Internet from information appliances such as PDAs, cell phones, and set-top boxes. Since these devices do not have the same rendering capabilities as desktop computers, it is necessary for Web content to be adapted, or transcoded, for proper presentation on a variety of client devices. In this paper, we propose an annotation-based system for Web content transcoding. First, we introduce a framework of external annotation, in which existing Web documents are associated with content adaptation hints as separate annotation files. We then explain an annotation-based transcoding system with particular focus on the authoring-time integration between a WYSIWYG annotation tool and a transcoding module. Finally, after giving an example of content adaptation using a page fragmentation module for small-screen devices, we compare our approach with related work.

    This paper presents an empirical evaluation of the real-life reuse of a domain-oriented library of problem-solving methods, in which top-level methods are related with respect to a domain model in an application area. First, the author clarifies research questions and the assumptions underlying this study, in accordance with a framework of case study research design. The organization of the library and its deployment processes are then briefly introduced. Taking account of the recurring modification of the library, the stability and productivity are investigated with respect to the code-size changes and the number of person-hours spent on the maintenance. Finally, it is concluded that the stability of a domain model is ensured by module dependency, and facilitates productive reuse of the domain-oriented library. (C) 1999 Academic Press.

    This paper presents a library of problem-solving methods dedicated to production scheduling, and reports our experience in applying the library to the development of a real-life system. The library consists of three loosely coupled sub-systems: a manufacturing domain model, scheduling methods and graphical user interfaces. The domain model provides fundamental concepts to be employed by the other two sub-systems. In particular, the relationship between scheduling methods as articulated in terms of the structural relations among concepts in the domain model. Application systems developed with the library can be extended by modifying the configurations of the sub-systems and elaborating the concepts in each sub-system. The reusability of the library is investigated in terms of the ratio of code reuse in a real case. Finally, we compare our approach with related studies, and draw implications for designing domain-oriented libraries of problem-solving methods, taking account of the transition of knowledge-modelling perspectives. © 1998 Academic Press.

    Since the design and reuse of ontologies are knowledge-intensive and time-consuming processes, it is important to make deliberate design decisions in order to obtain the benefits of reuse at a moderate cost in exchange for some acceptable loss in applicability and flexibility. This article raises issues related to the evolution of knowledge libraries, on the basis of our experiences in enabling the reuse in developing scheduling expert systems. First, the knowledge-modelling process is briefly reviewed, and the design decision on limiting the scope of reuse is discussed. The evolution of a component library is then investigated, showing the ratio of reuse in the development of a real scheduling system. Finally, the article emphasizes the significance of sharing the empirical results from both controlled and real experimentation. © 1997 Academic Press Limited.

    This paper shows how composable scheduling knowledge can be elicited from existing scheduling systems at the knowledge level, which is a more abstract level than that of actual system implementation. We begin by defining the job assignment task as a class of target scheduling problems. As a result of a preliminary analysis of four scheduling expert systems described in the literature, three problem-solving patterns are obtained as abstract templates for component elicitation. We then describe how we investigated another two scheduling systems in collaboration with the engineers actually involved in the development, so that the components obtained can be validated not only by knowledge engineers but also by the system developers. Consequently, a total of eleven problem-solving components are identified, and their reusability is demonstrated.

    Over the past few years a certain amount of research has been done on ways of configuring problem-solving methods from smaller-grained components. Although frameworks for method configuration have been explored in previous studies, ways of developing and maintaining a library of reusable knowledge have not been fully integrated into the frameworks. The purpose of this paper is to provide a view of bridging the architecture of component assembling and the knowledge contents, on the basis of our experiences in the area of scheduling problems. First, existing component-oriented approaches are briefly reviewed. We then introduce the concept of a computer-aided knowledge engineering (CAKE) environment, which consists of not only processes for constructing knowledge systems, but also processes for developing knowledge libraries to be reused for the prospective systems. The content issues in a class of scheduling problems are pursued in terms of the representation primitives of the task and method, the task-specific components to be configured into problem-solving methods, and the process of obtaining those components. Taking account of the knowledge contents, we explore the architectural issues related to our development environment, and give running examples for the task analysis, component retrieval and component configuration. Finally, we compare related studies on reuse-oriented development environments.

    It is well known that the use of the high‐level information data such as language information is indispensable in the speech understanding system. Because the human speech understanding process is executed unconsciously, sufficient knowledge is not yet available concerning what kind of high‐level information data are utilized and in what ways. We made two kinds of studies from the viewpoint of cognitive science to acquire knowledge about the use of high‐level information. Based on the result of study, an association based parser ASP was realized for the speech understanding system. ASP receives a large number of phrase candidate sequences as the input, and identifies the correct phrase sequence by examining successively the available syntactic, semantic and associative information. Especially, the topic is extracted first from the input candidates as a whole, and an association mechanism is employed where the vocabulary associated from the topic is processed with priority, being considered as an active word. The study in this paper is described from the viewpoint of cognitive science, and the framework of the language processing system obtained from the study is presented.     In language processing aiming at speech understanding, not only knowledge about the syntax and the semantics, but also knowledge about the context and the control play important roles in dissolving the ambiguity due to the uncertainty in the phoneme recognition. This paper discusses the association‐based parser ASP. Discussions are made especially on the details of the employed knowledges and the result of evaluation experiment, which was performed to verify the usefulness of the association mechanism. In ASP, based on the semantic memory, episode memory, syntactic knowledge and control knowledge, the vocabulary associated with a topic in the sentence is processed with priority, and the control of the search in the intelligent backtrack is performed. In the evaluation experiment, the control knowledge to determine the object of processing from the contending partial solutions, as well as the effect of the order of solution candidates in the phrase, are particularly examined. It was verified as the result that ASP exhibits a performance independent of the order of the solution candidates under a pertinent control strategy, and the correct phrase sequence is identified, based largely on the syntactic and semantic informations, even if there does not exist an appropriate topic.     There have been various disaster prevention learning methods based on gaming, such as simulation games and card games, to help acquire the knowledge of disaster prevention. Evacuation behaviors include mutually related unsafe and safe behaviors, and such behaviors are needed to be understood as pairs because it is often difficult to guess one type of safe or unsafe behavior from another type. For example, if knowing the danger of wearing rain boots during flooding as unsafe behavior, it is not easy to guess how to behave in such situation to ensure safety. Therefore, it is important to understand the relations between unsafe and safe behaviors so that evacuation behavior can be acquired as practical knowledge. In this study, we propose a disaster prevention learning method that employs a traditional Japanese card game called Karuta game in order to facilitate understanding the relations between unsafe and safe behaviors. Karuta games consist of two types of cards: reading cards and grabbing cards. The reading cards are given with phrases on unsafe and safe behaviors respectively in the upper and lower words, and each grabbing card is depicted with a scene of taking safe behavior. In this way, disaster prevention knowledge is represented in the contents of Karuta game, taking the relations between unsafe and safe behaviors into account. Karuta game is played by two or more players with the help of a reciter, and the reciter randomly takes a reading card from the deck and reads it aloud. The players race to grab or touch a grabbing card that matches the meaning of the reading card. As a preliminary evaluation of the Karuta game, we conducted user observation in an evacuation drill in cooperation with elementary school children. As results, it was observed that children payed attention to the differences between unsafe and safe behaviors, and their accompanied guardians also understood the idea of unsafe behaviors.

    Usability testing with prototypes is typically conducted with a concurrent think-aloud protocol. Due to the simultaneous process of prototype operation and verbalization, participants of the think-aloud testing sometimes say very little and are likely to become silent when they are required to think abstractly or complete complex tasks. In this paper, we propose a method of user operation with oral instruction, which facilitates thinking aloud because oral operation would help participants to keep a continuous flow of verbalization. To investigate the quantity and quality of utterances made during think aloud protocols, we conducted a comparative study between oral and conventional manual operation methods. The study was carried out with two test objects: an interactive prototype of a touch-screen digital camera and photo album software with standard mouse/keyboard user interface. Our results demonstrated that the oral operation method was more effective in drawing more utterances for explanation and observation that would be an important source of discovering usability problems although the effect was dependent on the user interface of test objects.

    This paper addresses the importance of cognitive accessibility and cognitive usability as critical requirements for universal design of information. Information should not be said to be accessed unless its content is cognitively internalized or understood by the user. Accessibility of information, therefore, should be evaluated not only for its perceivability but also for its understandability. We proposed a new cognitive walkthrough (CW) method whose CW questions were formulated based on an extended HCI model that distinguishes between perceiving and understanding. Applied to a Web design evaluation study, the extended CW was shown to be more effective in identifying accessibility and usability problems while remaining as efficient as the currently-practiced CW.

    In spite of the increasing prevalence of XPath language including its use with XSLT little attention has been paid to empirical study of robust pointing by XPath expressions. The goal of this study is to draw practical implications of the robustness of XPath expressions, taking account of the four kinds of real-life HTML pages. For each DOM node in the sample pages, we created three types of XPath expressions, and investigated to what extent those expressions were able to continue pointing at the same node in the modified pages during the observation period of four months.
    The types of XPath expressions we used for the investigation include not only absolute expressions that simply follow the hierarchy of a document tree from the root to the target element, but also relative expressions that point to a target element in relation to some stable anchor position. As anchor nodes for the relative addressing expressions, we used elements with an href attribute, because a URL assigned to an href value should not be change too often, and so an href reference should be relatively stable as a semantic descriptor
    In this paper, we briefly introduce an XPath authoring support for an annotation editor and explain the types of XPath expressions. An empirical evaluation of the XPath expressions is then presented. Finally, we discuss the advantages and limitations of the XPath expressions, taking account of the actual page modifications, and investigate possibilities for further improvement of the addressing method.

    XSLT plays an important role in data conversions between different XML representations. However, besides the transformations between XML data representations, conversion to an HTML document is one of the most practical tasks for XSLT, because it allows XML documents to be rendered in a human-readable form using Web browsers. We have developed XSLbyDemo, which is an XSLT stylesheet generation module to be plugged into a commercially available full-fledged HTML authoring tool. The remarkable feature of XSLbyDemo is that users can create an XSLT stylesheet automatically solely on the basis of their knowledge of HTML editing. We briefly explain situations where stylesheets for XML rendering are needed. We then introduce the rule generation method based on the users' operation history recorded behind the WYSIWYG editor, and in particular explain the ways of generalizing the created rules so that the obtained rules can be applied to other documents slightly different from the original one. Finally, we give a practical example of the rules generation by XSLbyDemo, and demonstrate that our method can be used for not only the conversion but also the partitioning of a real-life HTML document into smaller pages represented with Compact HTML to be rendered on Web-enabled cellular phones such as i-mode phones.

    In the present study, we develop a learning support method to raise self-awareness of the inconsistency between knowledge and action in information ethics. The proposed method which consisted of two phases. In the first phase, learners answered two tasks: behavior selection task to confirm the knowledge-to-action gap, and behavior evaluation task to ensure factors contributing to the gap. These tasks are constructed based on an experiment of cognitive psychology. In the next phase, students were shown the graph of experimental result as feedback. The method was applied to the lecture for first-year university students. As results of the evaluation of learning activities, it allowed students to capture the gap as their own matters and to recognize the activities as learning opportunity on information ethics. In addition, the method enhances motivation of the participants toward learning information ethical behavior.

    In this study, in order to clarify characteristics inherent in the knowledge-to-action gap and investigate factors contributing to the mediation of the gap, psychological experiments are conducted in three fields: evacuation behavior for disaster prevention, information ethics behavior, and bicycle driving behavior. As results of the experiments, it was confirmed there exists the gap between knowledge and behavioral intention in all the three fields. Moreover, taking account of the process of performing unsafe behaviors, we developed a learning support system that provides learners with simulated unsafe experience. The system was evaluated by a psychological experiment, and it was demonstrated the possibilities of mediating the inconsistency between evacuation knowledge and behavior intention with the proposed learning support method.

    The cognitive walkthrough (CW) is a usability inspection method aimed at evaluating the ease of learning cognitive artifacts such as computer software. The latest version, much simplified from its predecessor, was still difficult to apply to real-life environment because without background in cognitive psychology and usability evaluation it would be difficult for analysts to understand what exactly they were supposed to evaluate. The difficulty may partly be due to the granularity mismatch between what CW questions address and what analysts are likely to look for. We suggest that such granularity mismatch be alleviated if CW questions are generated based on a proper model of human-computer interaction (HCI). In this project, we extended Norman's HCI model by incorporating such distinctions as "object versus action" and "perceiving versus understanding" and then proposed an Extended Cognitive Walkthrough (ECW) whose questions explicitly address the ease of identifying correct objects/actions and of perceiving/understanding them. A comparative evaluation of the latest CW and our ECW indicated that those newly-introduced distinctions could make the CW easier to conduct and more effective in identifying usability problems.
    In addition, we confirmed that with a software tool developed for the online ECW evaluation, persons with disabilities were able to conduct the ECW for Web sites remotely at their own location without requiring them to be in a usability laboratory. Although testing with users is widely acknowledged as an effective way of identifying design problems that may otherwise be overlooked by even evaluation specialists, it is also recognized that recruiting appropriate participants often becomes problematic for user testing. A particular challenge for testing with persons with disabilities is that depending on the types and degrees of their disabilities it can be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for them to come away from home to participate in user testing. The ECW results were insightful and valuable as they were first-hand judgments of the persons with disabilities, reflecting their particular needs arising from individual disabilities.

Devising educational methods

  • ・「専門演習」(学部):プロジェクト形式の演習。履修者(毎年14~15名)を2~3名のグループに分け、プロジェクト課題を実施。課題はソフトウエア開発やコンテンツ制作に関するもので、おおまかな方向性のみを指示し、事前調査とテーマの絞込みは各グループでディスカッションしながら企画する。それによって、4年次の卒業研究において各自のテーマ設定の難しさと要領を習得させることをねらいとした。この課題は5月にグループ分けを行い、6月のゼミ合宿で経過報告、夏休み中はグループのメンバーが適宜連絡を取り合って作業を行い、9月のゼミ合宿で最終成果報告を行なう。各グループには、ゼミの上級生をアドバイザーとして指名し、ゼミの上級生には指導力を培う機会を与えた。 ・「Web情報システム論」(学部):Webサイトを実際に制作しているプロのデザイナーをゲストスピーカーとして招き、授業で説明した内容が実務とどのような関わりをもつか理解する機会を与えた。
