    <p>Faced with rapidly aging society, there are no exercise training regimens broadly available in the field to increase physical fitness and to prevent life-style related diseases for middle-aged and older people. The aim of this paper is to consider an aided system to support active walk for our health, and the effects of exercise intervention on university students. This study revealed that average of walk steps per day, MET(metabolic equivalent) hours per week and volume of fat combustion differed significantly amongst the groups. These findings provide preliminary evidence, which indicates that the intervention programs can contribute to the promotion and improvement of our health.</p>

    Cities often have numerous underground spaces such as subways and shopping malls. These hold the possibility of being inundated in a disaster. The reasons of these disasters are urbanization and global warming. The vulnerability of underground spaces to extreme flood and evacuation from there are treated in this paper by using the results obtained by numerical methods in densely urbanized area, Osaka, Japan. It is found that up to 60% of water would flood underground spaces if no counter measures were taken. It was also confirmed such areas should be evacuated before inundation.

    This survey was conducted in Kobe households to estimate the reduction in primary energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by introducing a micro fuel cell heat and power generation system. As a result, Even in the least effective month (in August), the primary energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions has decreased by 13 percent thanks to the introduction of the system. Further, the reduction of annual carbon dioxide emissions are calculated and the price of the carbon credit are imported based on J-VER Scheme. The price of the carbon credit is equivalent or more than the subsidized cost of introducing the system. This promotion should be effective in reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

    In recent years, damage caused by heavy rainfall for short period has been increasing in urban areas. In 2013 in Osaka, heavy rainfall—67mm per one hour and 27.5mm in 10 minutes—led to inundation above and below floor level and road inundation, which caused traffic disturbances. We focused on the center of Osaka, which has a large underground mall. Using 1D-2D urban flood analysis model, we predicted the overflow amount of pluvial floodwater, the expanse area and the onset of discharge, clarified the behavior of rainwater in the sewer system for five rainfall events. It is important that engineers should consider the adequate difference interval of rainfall events in analysis.

    Some parts of Japanese mega cities such as Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka are below sea level and these areas are prone to floods. These three areas are in coastal zone and over 1000 people were sacrificed by storm surge in the past time. Inundation of underground spaces by pluvial and tsunami flood in the center of Osaka have been investigated in our previous works. Underground inundation by storm surge caused by super typhoon is discussed in this paper. The results show that 50 percent of total overflow discharge intrudes into underground spaces. Almost all amount of intruding discharge into underground mall fall down to the subway stations connected to the mall. The damage is different from the results caused by pluvial and tsunami floods. This means that administrators of underground space have to make different countermeasures for each disaster.

    A residential electricity demand model is developed for the purpose of simulating electricity demand profile in typical one-day period of any category of families, DINKs, or singles in local climate conditions, utilizing national fundamental urban-region-based statistics such as PT(Person Trip Survey), National Census, Household Expenditure Survey and Survey on Time Use and Leisure Activities. The experiments of Monte-Carlo simulations in Kobe East urban area highlight considerable fidelity of the pilot model, illustrating time profile of cooking, housekeeping, watching TV and others in air-conditioned rooms in 7 categorized housing units with mobility and 20 timeconsuming activities. The scheme of aggregating process for district-based energy management is introduced by using demographic, building stock and other urban indicators in GIS.

    The main factors for building energy consumption were found through the measurement of office building electricity. We developed the simulation model to generate a profile of electricity demand of office building. The feature of this model is the approach in modeling employee behavior and using Monte Carlo Simulation. This model calculates electricity demand from energy consuming equipment such as air conditioner and office automation equipment. The model can estimate electricity demand profile reflecting the operational condition of the building. The result of a case study applying the electricity demand profile model is presented. This case study appraises the energy saving effects due to energy saving measures such as improving an air conditioning operation and/or distributing power collectively received at high voltage to buildings.

    Short-time heavy rainfall and high intensity rainfall events have increased in Japan. The rainfall events cause flush floods in urban area. In these floods, some rainwater intruded into underground spaces like a shopping mall and the users faced the danger of underground flooding. Therefore, it is very important to have an emergency plan for flooding. In order to make a plan, manager for underground spaces should know when and from which entrances the rainwater will flow into there. We simulate an inflow discharge by three different profiles of short-time high intensity rainfall using 1D-2D urban flood model and calculated an underground flooding using shallow flow model with structural mesh. It is found that inflow volume, start time of inflow and velocity spread are quite different in the three cases, but location of inflow is almost same. These results indicate that we have to move a quick response to the flush flood by high intensity rainfall.

    This paper built the simple simulation model of electricity demand and solar energy supply demonstrates monetary benefit derived from peak shaving and load leveling in operation of battery charging/discharging with photovoltaics in city blocks and communities.<br> As a result, we were able to get the conclusion of the following four points mainly. 1) The increment of the peak value 30 minutes for the average day and was limited to changes in gradual of about 10%, but it only obtained to reduce the 1.2% if you use an integrated manner across the district widely BT, case or, to operate together in a group applications BT, a significant reduction was obtained from BT users to combine together in a block unit. 2) Introduction to the total amount of PV-BT is the largest district in about 0.25 [kW/100m<sup>2</sup>] per unit area, the annual net benefits when changing the amount of introduction PV-BT is further reduced. 3)clarifing the effect of reducing peak load of distinction city that degree of mixing applications, possible to reduce peak by mixing the system residence, in order to away system and commercial system office time occurrence peak the results showed a quantitative reduction peak is low. 4) In block the system only commercial system and office are mixed, when shifted toward the power demand increases only the standard deviation, the effect of reducing peak load by BT is relatively high.

    We introduce our recent educational activities for urban flood damage reduction using a real-size model and a miniature model, and discuss their effects. In underground inundation by urban flooding, people must evacuate immediately via a staircase against a swift inflow, and people caught in basements must attempt to evacuate through doors held shut by hydrostatic pressure. In evacuation from underground spaces during flooding, it is very important to understand the critical conditions of evacuation via a staircase or by opening a door. We executed evacuation experiments using real-sized models. Low-lying streets are common sites of accidents with submerged cars and severe damage, including human damage, occasionally occurs under flooding conditions. Thus, we also executed evacuation experiments from a real-sized submerged car. We obtained the critical conditions for evacuation of inundated underground spaces and submerged cars. At the same time, we found that these experiments are very effective for education for urban flood damage reduction. People can feel how severe the flow is in a staircase, and how large the hydrostatic pressure exerted on a room door or a car door is. The experience of an evacuation experiment reminds them of the strength of water and importance of prompt evacuation. As the above evacuation experiments are very effective for enhancing disaster prevention awareness, we aim to help people to experience them during university events or educational activities. In addition, we made a miniature model of an urban area with a river, which can demonstrate urban inundation by river overflow and heavy rainfall using a small pump. The miniature model includes an underground space and an underground storage pond. The former part can express the flow configuration of underground inundation, and the latter part can show the good effects of underground storage. Not only children but also adults can learn about the urban flood mechanism and its countermeasures.

    The alternative methods of green-street improvement are evaluated in proposed indicators, firstly qualitatively. The high ranking scores are recognized in the alternative which conserve greenery of pinewoods and inherit the properties of green corridor along a river. In order to clarify the design code of green streetscape and pedestrians' amenity in footpath, the authors show the tendency of quantitatively measured ratios of greenery in the field of vision which are accounted and summed up in six each categories, conserve greenery in public or private side and the other four, of the green properties. The mean ratio of green view coverage should to increase by means of (1) connecting pinewoods spots with shrubby plants in footpath, (2) winding the pedestrians' way along pinewood conserved, (3) taking up stonewalls by using indigenous materials around residential boundaries, (4) mitigation more than net-zero base and proactive green restoration by means of application of setting-back rule for reconstructed buildings in road construction projects.

    Environmental policies in local government, operations and management of municipal waste treatment facilities with stoker type incinerators are examined by means of a nation-wide questionnaire survey. Most local governments have achieved reduction amount of wastes discharged and/or disposed. However, they have less performed in setting, and achieving targets of energy recovery volume and recycling volume. Furthermore, they do not sufficiently play in collaboration with other local governments in fully utilizing their existing treatment capacities for wastes from neighboring governments, except in the cases of disaster or accident events. This paper indicates a process flow diagram of expected responses of incineration facilities managers in the scenario of decreased volume of collected municipal wastes in the decline tendency of local population numbers: making out of services for partially operation methods in multiple furnace system in common, and followed by alternative courses of countermeasures in types of single or multiple treatment facilities.

    Local governments are requested to achieve a public consensus on planning and programming of waste management, especially when intend to transport wastes from wider areas or much more effectively recover heat energy potentials in waste treatment systems. In this research, citizens' awareness, consciousness and opinions are analyzed for the purpose of framing-up or altering policies of municipal waste treatment and recycling in terms of questionnaire survey for community leaders in local communities. In the result of quantification method, the respond citizens are classified in two groups, namely as conservative or innovative, based on differences in a sense of NIMBY for waste treatment facilities, affirmative/negative attitudes to compensation to disadvantage around those facilities, and appreciation of magnitude and implication of solid waste issues. This paper shows the challenging issues to achieve public consensus on any proactive waste management strategy.

    In this study, a survey was conducted in the cities of Moriguchi and Neyagawa in Osaka Prefecture, where flooding occurred during heavy rains in 1997, regarding levels of knowledge and concern about urban flooding, awareness of self-help procedures, and participation in disaster preparedness activities. The survey data led to the findings about the nature and importance of disaster preparedness information. We found that even in a flood-prone area, self-help awareness is low. Information about the local area is an influencing factor on awareness of self-help measures and participation in voluntary disaster preparedness activities.     Various low-toxicity substances are contained in the high functional electronic products in recent years. Although there is a little quantity of low-toxicity substances in each electronic product, total amount of them has been increasing by the mass production of electronic products. This means they tends to diffuse into environment and it also results in the loss of valuable metals.In this work, a substance flow analysis (SFA) on low-toxicity substances in used cellular phones as a typical example of high functional electronic commodity was carried out based on the actual condition of disposal which was acquired by the questionnaire applied to users and composition of cellular phone analyzed by ICP and EPMA. The amount of some scattered low-toxicity substances has been estimated. It was pointed out that establishment of the recycling system of cellular phones including used ones stored by users is very important in the view point of the avoidance of low-toxicity substance diffusion and recovery of valuable elements.

    In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on three types of waterfront facilities (landscape waterways, open waterfront spaces and biotope ponds) built using treated wastewater in order to clarify the use value of each facility by asking questions about the level of satisfaction with such facilities, aversion to treated wastewater and willingness to pay (WTP) for the effective use of treated wastewater. The results showed that users tended to want waterfronts in order to provide space for children to play, and that users also rate both open waterfront spaces and biotope ponds higher than landscape waterways. The valuation of waterfronts was affected to a large extent by aversion to treated wastewater, clarifying that the value of waterfronts could be increased by reducing the odor and improving the transparency of treated wastewater.

    In this study, we evaluated the amount of the reduction of the combined sewer overflow (CSO) load by the execution of real-time control (RTC) for the combined sewer system region where storage basin was constructed.Especially, the effect of the reduction of the load is high for the amount of rainfall is 10mm. Moreover, the amount of BOD load has been reduced 18 - 26%, and overflow frequency has been reduced 14-29% by RTC system as a result of annual analysis. In addition, it was clarified that the effect of the reduction of cost of RTC system was high as a result of cost-effectiveness analysis. It was clarified that the introduction of RTC system was effective as one of the CSO measures.

    We analyzed the factors pertaining to the citizens' awareness and action of drop-off collection, and propsed the policies of improved the collection rate of PET bottles. As a results, the factors for recycling behaviors of drop-off collection of PET bottles were extracted as ”Interest of recycling” and ”Behavior of other citizens”, and the distance to the collection point also influences the factors. In the improvement of the collection rate, measures of the improvement of environmental awareness are more effective than measures of the infrastructure of an increase of the number of collection points etc. Furthermore, the effect was measured as cooperation rate to the drop-off collection.

    In recent years, there has been growing concern about the effects of harmful trace substances on human health and the ecology, such as chemicals that can affect the endocrine system, and carcinogenic substances. For example, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are discharged into the atmosphere as exhaust gas from automobiles and then deposited on road surfaces, and are carried into the public water supply as runoff after it rains.In this study, the benzo(a)pyrene concentration and runoff pollutant load in drainage water from roads were measured, the runoff characteristics of benzo(a)pyrene were clarified using a simulation, and a runoff risk evaluation of the non-point pollutant load was carried out, using runoff risk evaluation indexes (Cmax, C·T).The results of analyses of some different rainfall waveforms showed that the evaluation indexes Cmax andC·T were highest for the middle-stage torrent type, suggesting that there was a tendency toward a high risk of benzo(a)pyrene runoff during this type of rainfall.

    The amount of reduced CSO loads and the amount of CO2 emission by the construction and operation of the reservoir were calculated. The authors have proposed the evaluation index in consideration of CO2 emission. which is considered not only CSO loads reduced but also CO2 emission. The calculation cases are 6 examples as following: without reservoir(case1), capacity of reservoirs are 10,000 - 50,000m3(case2 - 6). According to this evaluation index, the case3 which capacity of reservoir to 20,000m3 is the best. When projects are selected to improve social infrastructure, the index gives us an important information about efficient of project effect and CO2 emission.

    We have studied the amount of visit, the use purpose and the degree of satisfaction to urban river by the questionnaire to residents.We considered the improvement direction of the river environment from relations, such as the amount of visits to a river, and the degree of satisfaction. Irrespective of the amount of visits, residents are dissatisfied to the quality and beauty of the water of a river. We have extracted the factors of ”comfortable”,”clean”, ”safety”, and ”nature” from the factor analysis of the degree of satisfaction to a river.The amount of visits is influenced of the comfortable factor. It is important for the urban river construction to make it safe and comfortable.

    We calculated the amount of carbon dioxide emission and cost each case of different recover rate of PET bottle material recycling, reuse and not recycling. From a questionnaire, it was made clear citizens' acceptance intention degrees toward recycle and reuse PET bottle in order to evaluate citizens' intention about recycling PET. And, we carried out integrated evaluation of each PET bottle by the amount of carbon dioxide emission, cost and citizens' intention. As a result, material recycling is the best evaluation when recover rate is over 60%. If citizens' acceptance for reuse PET bottle becomes 90%, reuse is the best evaluation over the 50% recover rate.

    The influence of highway runoff on receiving water is considered serious. On the road surface and in side ditches, rubber debris from tires and automobile exhaust emission in the atmosphere and precipitation accumulate. These pollutants are discharged by heavy rainfall to the receiving water. These pollutants contain materials harmful to the human body and the ecosystem. In this study, the authors have investigated the amounts of accumulated pollutants and highway runoff pollutants. The correlation between SS (suspended solid) concentration and benzo(a)pyrene concentration was analyzed, and the mechanisms of highway runoff pollution and accumulation pollution were clarified. Benzo(a)pyrene concentration seemed to correlate with SS concentration. Therefore, the authors have anticipated that benzo(a)pyrene concentration is high in highway runoff and accumulated pollutants based on the runoff and accumulation models of SS. The result obtained using these models almost correspond to the experimental result.

    In this study, we carried out a questionnaire to the inhabitants as following; 1) evaluation of existence and functional recognition of the multipurpose stormwater reservoir, 2) inhabitants consciousness for the utilization of storage water and maintenance of stormwater reservoir. As a result, most of the inhabitants who agree to the everyday use of the reserved water approve of using the reserved water by the people of part areas. Inhabitants set a high value on the stormwater reservoir by the existence and functions of storage being recognized. And, such inhabitants have the possibility to participate in the maintenance and so on.

    We have evaluated three public works for environmental improvement of the urban river by &ldquo;Eco-efficiency&rdquo;. The &ldquo;Eco-efficiency&rdquo; is evaluated with four factors. They are willingness to pay, increase amount of visit, environmental loads and cost of the project. In order to uniform inhabitant's images about these environmental improvement project, we showed photomontage of the future urban river condition after implementation of the project. Using the photomontage, we researched WTP and increase of frequency of visit. And we estimated life cycle cost and lice cycle CO<sub>2</sub> of the projects. As a result, the construction of the river water direct purification system had the best &ldquo;Eco-efficiency&rdquo;.

    要旨:廃棄物中間処理施設の設置は、周辺住民との合意が容易には得られないこと等からきわめて困難な状況となっている。本研究では、処理施設の建設と住民合意形成を円滑に進めるために、処理施設から周辺地域に対するサービスを行い、住民の合意が得られるような廃棄物中間処理施設建設のための条件を検討した。これより、処理施設建設のための見返りサービスとして、処理施設からの廃熱を利用したエネルギー供給が最も効果的であり、供給量としては1ヶ月の電気代、暖房・給湯代の約50%に相当する量を望む声が最も多かった。対象地域において無料でエネルギー供給を行った場合、全世帯で42.5%の電気代、暖房・給湯代に相当し、エネルギー供給を用いた処理施設建設の住民合意形成の可能性が示された。

    要旨:本研究は、多数の水鳥が飛来する、ため池のある公園を対象としている。子供を連れた来園者は水鳥とのふれ合いは子供には良い体験だという気持ちから、子供と一緒に水鳥に給餌行為を行っている。しかし、給餌行為は水質保全のために禁止されているが、来園者は禁止を知りながら水鳥への給仕を行っている。そこで、給餌行為が禁止であると認識していながら、給餌行為を行ってしまう要因を明らかにするために、来園者に対してアンケート調査を実施し、属性別、来園目的別に給餌行為の禁止に対する意識の相違を心理的な側面から分析した。その結果、来園者は水質問題を深刻に感じていないこと、他人の行動が来園者の環境意識に影響することを明らかにした。

    We have investigated the actual conditions of separate collection of plastic packaging waste. And we carried out the questionnaire survey about the introduction of separate collection of plastic packaging waste for the separate collection of plastic packaging waste is enforced area and not enforced area. As the result the amount of foreign matter getting into the plastic packaging waste has increased from the beginning of introduction of the separate collection of plastic packaging waste. Factors of this foreign matter getting into plastic packaging waste are; 1) there are difficult products of the separate for the inhabitant, 2) there are problems which cannot be expected before the introduction of separate collection, 3) the inhabitant cannot seem to understand the effect by separate collection. Therefore, to reduce the foreign matters, we have to carry out the following actions; 1) Intensive promotion of information disclosure to the inhabitants, 2) Labeling all materials used for plastic packaging, 3) Establishment of management system about waste collection stations to the inhabitants.

    Abstract┏B/┓Highway runoff contains tire wear, automobile exhaust emission and so on. These materials are accumulated on the road surface in fine weather. These accumulation polluted loads contain harmful materials to the human body and the ecosystem. This highway runoff is not treated and is discharged to receiving water. We investigated the degree of highway runoff pollution. From the results of our investigation, we clarified that the concentration of Benzo(a)Pyrene in the highway runoff waters sometimes exceeded concentrations at 10-5 carcinogenic risk. We also researched the bottom sediments in the receiving water, too. The bottom sediments of the receiving water has Benzo(a)Pyrene more than bottom sediments of the average Japanese river. And, we have analyzed the runoff characteristics to establish runoff model for Benzo(a)pyerne. The runoff characteristics of Benzo(a)pyrene is the similar as suspended solid (SS). So, we have made the possibility to estimate a runoff pollution of Benzo(a)pyrene by this model.

    Recently, it has been expected the social infrastructure system must be changed to an environment ally friendly one. Therefore, we proposed a new evaluation method, ”ecodesign”, to establish an environment ally friendly system of social infrastructure and performed an evaluation using the proposed method. Four renewal methods for urban water supply systems were evaluated in order to improve the quality and safety of drinking water: Four 1) high-level purified drinking water supply system, 2) domestic water recycling system, 3) movement of treated sewage discharging point to lower reaches, 4) water supply system with PET bottles. We evaluated each water supply system using to ecodesign approach based on citizens' evaluations, the amount of carbon dioxide emission and cost. Accordingly, the domestic water recycling system is the best system from the viewpoint of ”ecodesign”. Therefore, we consider that an ecodesign evaluation, with adequate evaluation items provides us important information for planning and implementation of projects to improve social infrastructure.

    Recently, we must make public enterprises cost effective and environmental friendly. Methods of environmental conservation for water pollution are not exception. We examined environmental quality of a small river which was improved by the methods of environmental conservation. The conservation methods are sewer construction, the spread of private sewerage treatment tank for household wastewater, stream purification system in the flood plain and flow back system of advanced treated water for upstream of the river in a sub-urban area. And we estimated the costs and environmental loads of the environmental conservation for entire their life cycle. Moreover, we investigated the relation between environmental quality and cost or environmental loads. Therefore, we presented more cost effective and more environmental conscious methods of environmental conservation.

    It has been investigated that the new reusing system of treated wastewater from the advanced wastewater treatment plant to keep flow and to improve water quality in the flowing water shorting river in urban area. We estimated the environmental loads from the construction and operation of the reusing system, and we simulated water quality of the urban river and easiness of the playing with water. Much quantity of the treated wastewater for the water circulation system is needed to gain dramatically improvement in the water quality and good circumstance of the stream for water playing, but these huge water circulation system brings much environmental loads. We must make sure of the relation between the environmental loads and the effect of the project.

    We evaluated an advantage of the utilization of rainwater and treated domestic wastewater in urban area. The rainwater utilization is the use of rainfall on the roofs and collected runoff storm water in the storm water reservoir for flood control. In the reuse of treated domestic wastewater, wastewater from the kitchen is not reused. That is &ldquo;Domestic Water Recycling System&rdquo;. We evaluated the amount of conserved drinking water and the amount of decreased final effluent polluted matters by the unused water resources utilization. And we estimated the amount of carbon dioxide emission by the construction and operation of the unused water utilization systems. In the subject basin, the use of rainfall on the roofs and the domestic water recycling systeip are effective in the decrease of the resources consumption. And the domestic water recycling system is the most effective in the decrease of the environmental load.

    気候変動による気象災害が激化している。本研究は、都市部の内水氾濫に代表される「高頻度低被害型」の水害に着目し、第一に、将来気候における降雨特性の把握を行った。大規模アンサンブルデータによる将来予測は不確実性を有しているが、観測値に基づき計画降雨を作成する従来の計画手法では、不確実性を評価できない。そこで、計画規模以上の被害となる将来降雨を明らかとすることを目的に、「従来型の計画手法」と「不確実性を考慮した計画手法」のそれぞれの方法で作成した降雨イベントを用いて内水氾濫解析を行った。その結果、最大湛水量と時間最大雨量の関係から、アンサンブル予測結果のほとんどはアンサンブル平均を上回ることを示した。また、将来降雨を5つに分類し、注意すべき降雨パターンを明らかにした。さらに、最大湛水量と3時間最大雨量には,高い相関が見られ、内水氾濫において3時間累積雨量のモニタリングが重要であることが示唆された。
    第二に、将来降雨を用いた内水氾濫による影響評価について、既に構築している大阪市のモデルに加え、当初の計画通り、福知山市と尼崎市の内水氾濫解析モデルを構築した。大阪市における適応策としては、特に脆弱な地下街について、止水板の設置効果ならびに、地下空間からの避難について、その効果を示した。尼崎市では、全域が市街化されていることから、総合治水の視点から屋上緑化に着目し、屋上緑化による雨水流出抑制効果について定量した。その結果、屋上緑化による雨水流出抑制効果は限定的であることを示した。福知山では、雨水排水をポンプに依存していることから、ポンプ能力の増強、貯留施設の設置による効果について定量した。その結果、雨水排水能力の向上により一定の効果が得られることを示した。

    In Osaka urban area, which constitutes a large-scale underground space with many subway lines and underground shopping malls, we have been working to improve the model that can handle the inundation of the ground and underground at the same time and in detail. As a result, detailed examinations were conducted on the analysis of inward water flooding and the prediction of flooding processes and inflows at underground entrances and exits, and it became possible to evaluate the risk of underground flooding in the event of extreme torrential rains. In addition, considering the timeline, we also examined measures against underground flooding, mainly for the evacuation system and installation of flash boards.

    We executed inundation simulation analysis of both ground and underground spaces in Umeda district, Osaka City, Japan. We applied the integrated model comprising the inundation models for the ground and the underground spaces.In the model, the subway tracks were also considered as additional underground space.Through the analysis, it was found that as rainfall increases, inflow to underground increases, and it is important to set flash board at entrances to underground and to close subway tracks.In addition, by hydraulic experiments, we could obtain the critical flowing conditions of car and man and evacuation difficulty by bicycle in flood water.

    Recently, inundations in underground structures have been increasing due to frequent localized heavy rainfalls in Japanese urban areas. To provide the information on the predicted inundation risks, location-based services are preferable for individual users. However, GPS does not function in underground spaces. This study proposes an augmented reality (AR) visualization of underground flood situations based on a visual location technique. The proposed method acquires the 3D coordinates of the natural features from prerecorded images. The user’s viewpoint can be estimated by corresponding 3D coordinates and natural features of the user photographed image, solving a Perspective-n-Point (PnP) problem. Then the water surfaces expressed by CG is superimposed on the photograph from the viewpoint of the user. We experimented with an actual railway station located in the underground. The reproducibility of the user’s viewpoints was verified, and view-dependent AR representation was achieved.

    Recently, torrential rainfall has increased and there is a growing risk of the occurrence of floods in Japan. In this research, we propose multiple scenarios and multiple adaptation measures for the risk of combined disaster of earthquake and flood damage for large cities including underground space, and the effect of reducing flooding damage on the ground and the underground space was calculated using a simulation model. In addition, based on the results, we considered the usefulness of the strategic resilience policy for each phase against the combined disaster of earthquake and flood damage.

    Short-time heavy rainfall and high intensity rainfall events have increased in Japan. In these floods, some rainwater intruded into underground spaces like a shopping mall and the users faced the danger of underground flooding. Therefore, it is very important to have an emergency plan for flooding. In order to make a plan, manager for underground spaces should know when and from which entrances the rainwater will flow into there. We simulate an inflow discharge by three different profiles of short-time high intensity rainfall using 1D-2D urban flood model and calculated an underground flooding using shallow flow model with structural mesh. Additionally, to identify ways of stimulating greater independent flood preparedness, the authors conducted a flood awareness survey among residents of urban areas that have suffered relatively high flood damage, and constructed a determinant model, based on covariance structural analysis, for independent flood-preparedness action by residents.

    In flooding, low-lying streets and underpasses are common sites of accidents with submerged cars. In the case flooding is severe, cars are floated and flushed away. We executed two main research activities on car problems, namely, (1) experiment study of evacuation from a partially submerged car, and (2) experiment study of incipient floating motion of car in flooding.
    (1)Evacuation experiments were conducted by using a real-size car model. A small minivan with a slide type rear door was used. The experimental results indicate that the water depth of about 0.75 m is the critical evacuation condition through the slide type door. (2) The critical incipient condition was studied experimentally, using the 1/10 and 1/18 scale car models. On the base of experimental results, we could draw the diagram of critical incipient condition of real car by both flow velocity and water depth. Sedan typed cars are likely to be floated if the flow velocity exceeds 2m/s and the water depth exceeds 0.5m.

    Since plastics are used throughout our societies, the issues surrounding plastic waste have become a typical and symbolic part of the discussion on waste treatment and recycling in a modern society. The most pressing issue is to withdraw from a mass production, mass consumption, mass waste economic system and to create a recycling oriented society. Waste disposal system conventionally reveals many problems, like the difficulty of finding final disposal sites for incinerator residues and the issue of how to recycle waste materials. Some new technologies have been developed to solve these kinds of problems, including ash melting and gasification melting. Resource recycling systems of waste plastics have been developed to explain these kinds of issues, including blast furnace reaction, coke-oven chemical raw material preparation, liquefaction, gasification and material recycling. In this study, environmental impact and costs were determined using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Cost (LCC).
    In 2006, we selected representative methods used for ash melting and gasification melting that are used for waste incineration, and determined the amount of environmental lord and costs by LCA and LCC. As a result, it was clear that ash melting system excelled rather than gasification melting system both environmental mad and costs, regardless of amount of waste.
    In 2007, we chosen some methods worked for blast furnace reaction, coke-oven chemical raw material preparation, liquefaction, gasification and material recycling which are worked for resource recycling systems of waste plastics, and evaluated the amount of environmental lord and costs. As a result, it was found that gasification method is the best resource recycling system of waste plastics. Although gasification method has very high electricity consumption, this method retrieves the resources. Further gasification method is highly efficient.

    We examined whether the present PET bottles recycling system would be reduction of environmental load and cost. Furthermore, the development plans of the reproduction goods of PET bottle were examined from a consumer's consciousness. The results obtained by research are shown below.
    (1)Environmental load is reduced by PET bottle recycling. Because, CO_2 emission of the bottle manufacturing by virgin material and the incineration are large.
    2)If the recovery rate of PET bottle is high, cost can be reduced by recycling. Because, it is higher for cost to manufacture PET bottles by virgin material rather than recycling material.
    (3)In order to reduce environmental load and cost in PET bottle recycling, it is important to raise the recovery rate.
    (4)We evaluated every each bottle the virgin PET bottles, the recycling PET bottles and the reuse PET bottles by environmental load, cost and the acceptance intention of the residents. As a result, when the recovery rate of PET bottles is 50% or less, evaluation of virgin PET bottles is the best. When the recovery rate of PET bottles is 50% or more, evaluation of recycling PET bottles is the best.
    (5)About the reproduction goods of PET bottles, the acceptance intention of the residents of a recycling PET bottle is good.
    (6)About reproduction goods other than recycling PET bottles, the young generations consider that a price is important rather than environment load. However, the elderly generations consider that environment load is important rather than the price. It is necessary to take this difference into consideration in development of reproduction goods.
    By the above result, we attained the all subjects of research.
