This paper aims to clarify fundamental conditions of endogenous development in the Saijo festival through the analysis of the management form which consists of three viewpoint, 1) dedication of floats, 2) types of owners and participants, 3) the local community which maintain the festival. First of all, the number of floats has increased about twice in twenty years with maintaining the traditional style of the festival. Secondly, a group of owners is coincident with the local community, but on the other hand participants are allowed to carry a float beyond the local community. Finally, the local community is identified as the spatial and social character and has a role of supporting the increase of floats and participants.

The purpose of this paper is to clarify the characteristics of Osaka as an international tourist city through the analysis of the package tour plans to Japan from Taiwan and South Korea. For Japanese, Osaka is not so popular city as Kyoto or Kobe as a place for urban tourism in Kansai district. In contrast with that case, Osaka has the second largest share in the total numbers of foreign visitors to Japan, next to Tokyo. Three patterns of the tours are abstracted from 12 routes of package plan which contains Osaka as a place to visit, and comparison of the tours between Taiwan and South Korea are made, and the difference of the position of USJ in their package plans are referred.

This study aims to make clear the characteristics of the open space on the artifical ground of Senri central district through analysis of user's activities and ownership / management form. As a result. three conclusions have been formulated. First, the open space became continuous for surrounding area on the subway station, not at front of a station. Second, the open space on the artifical ground was open with retail shops because it was formed on building site without the influence of right-of-way. Third, the management of three different operating bodies induced various activities on the open space from a whole day.

This study aims at clarifying the relevance of city space composition and mass media through analysis of commercial space of Osaka MINAMI and town informations appeared in 9 regional magazines. The following things became clear. There is tendency for commercial space to expand dispersively in development of Osaka MINAMI as well as the geographical distribution of town informations. Town informations were classified into 4 types, but 4 types have become similar with each other. This means that a role of town informations have been changed an communication method of value of a certain commercial space to a catalog people choose individually.

This study aims to clarify spatial characteristics of Sinmachi-YUKAKU of Osaka in Edo era. As a result of considering Shinmachi from a viewpoint of historical construction, the following points became clear. 1. Shinmachi was zoned in order to arrange "YURI" (not authorized quarter) which is used to develop a city as a method of management of Osaka. 2. Although "YUKAKU" (licensed quarter) was isolated from circumference, Shinmachi has become open up gradually. 3. Shinmachi was composed of the aggregate of six settlements and the each settlement made a strong connection with surrounding area. This had resulted in a change to internal composition.

This study aims to clarify the various aspects of the local identity which appears in the case of consolidation of municipalities. Through the analysis of the change of the cities, towns and villages name and location of the cities, towns and villages office, the following points became clear. (1)Most of the cities, towns and villages names were derived from historic place names and had been used as much as possible historically. (2)The cities, towns and villages office is so important that the issue of name influences its location in the case of consolidation of municipalities. (3)Neighborhood participation has resulted in the new type of the name which is different from old cities, towns and villages name recently.

This study aims to categorize the commercial spaces around the retail markets in Taegu, Korea into some types and to identify their respective characters clearly. Through our survey of 78 retail markets, we have categorized them into the following 5 types based on those present conditions of the shops and the street stalls aroud them. TypeI: Markets are independent having no relation with the shops and the street stalls. TypeII: Markets with a few (2or3) shops and a few street with a few street stalls. TypeIV: Markets with a shopping street and many street and many street stalls, TypeV: Markets are surrounded with many (more than 30) shops without making an shopping street and manu street stalls. Our survey resulted in, TypeV is the typical characteristic of Korean commercial space.
