I design my classes with the goal for students to become independent language learners. So I make it clear that I am there to help them, but also that they must help themselves by making their own language learning plan that includes regular study. Thus, home work is an essential part of the class. I reinforce this by requiring student to speak English during class time

I use a wide variety of materials in my classes. These include: tests, extensive readers, handouts, CDs and DVDs. I also assist students with selecting their own reading and listening materials in order to increase the irmotivation to learn English

I attend the annual JALT conference to keep updated on developments such research areas as vocabulary acquisition and extensive reading
