最終年度にあたる本年は、ジュヴァルツヴァルト地方の冬至祭礼調査、宮崎県高千穂町での仮面を用いる冬至祭の儀礼調査、秋田県男鹿地方での新年の祭礼であるナマハゲおよびその周辺地域の祭礼調査といった、これまでの複数年度の調査をもとに、分析・考察をおこなった。
ドイツ語圏を中心としたヨーロッパの通過儀礼と、日本を中心としたアジアの通過儀礼は意外と類似する部分が多いという認識に到達することになったが、そうした場合は、たいていがキリスト教文化の浸透以前、あるいはあまり浸透していない西欧の地域や地方のものであることが多いようである。あらためて、現在の世界各地で発生している文化摩擦や紛争の主な要因のひとつが、結局のところ、多神教と一神教の対立に起因しているのではないかという推測に蓋然性をみいだすこととなった。したがって、多神教的思考と一神教的思考というこの二項対立、たとえば、それは中沢新一が主張するところの対象性思考と非対象性思考の対立といえるのだが、これを乗り越えるために必要な思想や考え方を、世界の別の地域や住民たちのものにみいだすにしろ、まったく新たに創造していくにしろ、それともこれらのことが可能ではないときにはやはり、このふたつの対立を統合していくべき方法論を将来、模索していかなければならないだろう。
本研究に従事した研究者の個別の研究成果によってなされている主張が、現時点における考察の結果の一部ではあるが、これらの成果によって、萌芽研究という本研究の役割は果たされたと思われる。

The eight lectures of the Lotus sutra called " Hokke-hakko" were practiced employing several styles. Some were practiced with using a national meaning, and some, private meanings. At this Hokke-hakko, the discourse of the Lotus sutra as well as the debate was very important.
The study of the discourse until now concentrated on statements in ceremonies "hyobyaku" and admiration words for the chief ceremony-holder "seshudan" and it pointed out an talent in literature of the lecturer. In other words, its study is to pursue flowery words and fine phrases.
But, studying from the documents of the discourse of the Lotus Sutra called "kyoshaku" we can find out a fact that lecturers depended on their own denomination's commentaries and interpretations. They showed an understanding of their own denominations and that discourse had a connection with the following debates. We can say that discourse was one of the most important parts of the "hakko".
In this presentation, I would like to show the real conditions of the discourses concerned with the Lotus Sutra by using materials which have remained, including the documents of the ceremonial services called "hakko" up to those documents related to direct lectures called "jikidan".

While there is much research on the content of Tendai teachings during the middle-ages, there are few studies regarding how these teachings unfolded. Although there was little interest in the field, from the 1960s OGAMI Kanchu began research on the status of regional Tendai teachings. He focused on the Dangisho Temples (regional academic temples that proliferated during the middle-ages). Ogami presented over 10 essays, in which he elucidated the role of the Dangisho as regional places for educating scholar-priests, the fact that they were numerous from Eastern to Western Japan (particularly in Kanto) and that active exchanges were carried on between the various regional Dangisho. Further, Jobodai-in, the temple at which Ogami worked as the resident priest, is a representative Dangisho. While Ogami researched the Kanto Dangisho, he also surveyed Jobodai-in. Later, from 1994, a survey group led by FUKUDA Eijiro was established. This group produced new results in surveying Jobodai-in's historical materials and explaining the temple's internal regulations. With regards to current Dangisho research, excavation and interpretation of new data is being conducted in order to clarify the state of acceptance of medieval Tendai teachings.

<説法>と称される一連の言説に<経釈>を位置付け、その構造を明らかにするとともに、法会における一連の所作として、学侶の研鑽を明らかにするために行われた<論義>と、これら<説法>における言説との関連性など見出した(福田晃編『唱導文学研究第四集』、三弥井書店、発表予定)。また<経釈>に限らず、<説法>における一連の言説として表白された<表白><施主段>についても伝本調査を行い、東寺観智院金剛蔵『十二巻本表白集』ほか、その本文を電子化するなど、それらの解読をすすめる準備を行った。
さらに、「説法の上手」とうたわれ、「説法道」を確立したと伝えられる、安居院澄憲の<説法>を相対化するために、澄憲以前に、多くの「説法詞」を草したことで知られ、その「詞」の多くが伝存する寛信について、その著作に関する調査と解読をすすめた。結果、『類雑集』の成立ほか、勧修寺流の形成についても私見を得た(勧修寺聖教文書調査団における夏期報告会において口頭発表した)。また、澄憲草を中心とする、安居院流の「説法詞」を伝える文献に関して、真福寺・神奈川県立金沢文庫・叡山文庫・東寺観智院金剛蔵・勧修寺などで伝本調査を行った結果、「説法の上手」で知られた澄憲が、天台教学の研鑽をすすめるべく「宗要」の編纂を手がけたむねを伝える文献を発見するなど、これまでの澄憲理解を覆す新見をも得た。
